Tomorrow I leave for Anza Berrago for a few days. I stay at The Springs or a hotel . Plenty of places to eat. I don't camp. But I could.

Definitely. There’s a ton more out there. Several in your backyard. I’ll grab a big spinning rod out of the tube. Been taped up since moving from Florida. I’ve only used fly rods since moving to CO. Maybe a reel rebuild or two is in order.
I have rods Dan, time you learn about bail less reels anyway, no sense carrying a rod and reel along....Jack

Bailless?! I’m apparently behind the times for sure.

I figured he meant a bait casting reel like this...

I haven’t fished salt water in about 5 years, but used to use really big conventional and spinning reels. I’m sure not as big as many people, but still really big.

Backlash. No fun.
They weren’t mine, but one weekend got the awesome privilege to go kite fishing. So power reels for the kites, and massive bait casters for the bait line. Coolest fishing I’ve ever done. Caught sailfish and huge dorado doing it.

I've done my share of fishing, used a lot of different rigs, but salt water is one I've never tried.
I was supposed to go out with one of my boys and his inlaws last month, but it got canceled. The chart has to cross the Columbia River bar and the weather was supposed to be questionable at best.

I love salt water fishing. You never know what’s going to happen. Grouper one moment, barracuda eats grouper the next.

We were headed after salmon. Son's brother in law knows the boat captain. I guess the boat was packing them in all week before the weather changed.

That's why I love saltwater. A trophy freshwater bass is just bait in saltwater.

Very true. I used to keep a random bluefish and just troll with it, or throw it out on a free line to get shark or cuda.
