😂 Mine is in the electronic junk parts box that I occasionally cannibalize parts out of. Say, if I need a small length of green or red coated copper wire, I’ll snip off from these junk parts.
Exactly - mine have the OBD connectors as well, so there is that......

That is a legitimate concern, but the draw from these is not enough to really be an issue. I didn't remove mine because of the way it was tapped into the wiring harness behind the OBD port. I didn't want to risk any additional damage to the wiring.
The one in my 2020 was so poorly installed, I found it when I was driving and it literally fell onto my left foot!
I followed the wires up and it led to the OBD piggyback connection, which wasn't even snapped fully into the OBD bracket under the dash.

I havent done any experiments to see how often and how much it draws, but I will say my battery tender is not in a constant state of “charge” anymore, since I ripped the tracker dongle out.

Uconnect doesn't actively track you. It regularly uploads telemetry data to the servers that includes the current location. If you want access to the data so the vehicle can be tracked, or the ability to request the current location, you have to pay for a Guardian subscription.
Uconnect is ALWAYS connected …. Anyone ( & at anytime), could be watching or tracking you (For whatever reason). Same with Onstar (GM). Not that they do - and I don’t really care. The point is… they could be tracking you and you wouldn’t know it.

Same with our Cell phones…constantly listening….constantly knowing where we are…. You can’t get away from it unless you become a hobit & live off grid.☺

Is there any way to keep Uconnect from tracking you? Maybe unplugging or removing the satellite antenna? I understand that our phones track everything we do. But my jeep will not fit in a faraday bag.

The Uconnect head unit maintains a connection to the cellular network, just like your phone.
AT&T can track you, if provided the head unit IMEI, based on the cellular tower connection.
SiriusXM Guardian can track you, since they operate the system. They do not actively track you unless requested to aid in recovery.
To be able to track your own vehicle requires a Guardian Subscription.

Stellantis is paying the AT&T communications bill for these trucks. They purposely are not chatty systems. They get regular Telematics updates, but are not constantly communicating with the head units. Using the Remote Functions increases communications traffic. Stellantis does not complain about this, or the cost to them, because it is offset by the customer paid Guardian subscription amount.

GPS tracker used by dealerships for inventory. Should have been removed by dealership, but they don't employ the smartest porters or delivery prep guys, so ...

It costs money to remove and recycle them. The installation is a sunk cost. It's cheaper for the dealer to leave it in the truck. It also eliminates the risk of damage to the vehicle during removal.

Besides the very unlikely and unserious concern of parasitic battery draw, which is minimal at worst and negligible at best, so what? Everything "tracks" us at all times every second of every day. Most people voluntarily share themselves on websites, such as this one, through IPs and cellular data, posts pics of their kids and grandkids on social media, updates locations, uses Google maps, talks and texts, cameras at checkouts, cameras at banks, cameras on your phone, microphones on your phone, etc. You are tracked, watched, and documented every second of every day....and you effin do it voluntarily. We all do.

Trust me, we are way less interesting than we think we are. "They" aren't interested in where you go or what you do. They are only interested in your $$$. They track us for marketing and targeted ads. That's all it is. Relax.

Interesting.

We always pull them on delivery and install them on another vehicle. They're around $150 per unit.

Tell me about it - I went to a restaurant a couple of weeks ago, and all of a sudden I was hit with messages "how was xxxxxx, review it now" type messages, along with ads for similar places.
I do NOT play any games on any of my computers, phone and so on. In fact, I remove all that I can (although mickysoft won't allow removal of xbox crap from Windows) and I mentioned some game in a post somewhere and the next thing I know, I am getting ads for online games in FB and other places.
There's one way anyone could have known I was at a specific restaurant - my phone..........
I placed an order for some supplies for my stamp collection recently - guess what ads show up on the forum here now! Yup...

It will vary with dealer size, employee labor cost, who is making the decisions, and whether or not they are trying to sell services attached to the device.

Exactly. We are watched, listened to, and tracked simply to sell us shit.

I live in the Houston, TX area....boom, right there, voluntarily revealed my general location as if "they" didn't know that already. Anyway, my wife and I were casually talking about skiing. We don't live near any mountains and us seeing snow is laughable. We're not skiers nor are we interested in doing it. But we were talking about skiing, can't remember why, and immediately we both got ads about ski trips. Our phones and our Alexa were in the room.

I also mess with the Alexa and other things that listen by saying things that really shouldn't be said, just to see how much listening is happening. Where's the best place to dispose of a body? Is the meat of a child more tender than an adult? How does one get started with sex trafficking? Stuff like that. I can talk about assassinating world leaders willy nilly and nothing happens. But mention skiing and I'm immediately bombarded with ski ads.

"They" just want to sell us things. They don't care about anything else.

No, it doesn't really vary at all.

If a Jeep dealer is of the size that their insurance requires GPS locators and monthly/weekly inventory reports (and they ALL are that size if they want to keep their dealership contract with CDJR), then the dealer principal is going to do what is required for his policy.
