Interesting yeah mine doesn’t show that I guess. Well hopefully EOC gets in touch with you here soon. Sounds like they need to send you a different file to upload maybe.
It’s there … it’s in the menu to configure your center gauge cluster …

I have approximately 250 miles since eoc stg2 tow tune and trans tune. I haven't noticed and odd behavior from transmission other than first 50 or so miles it seemed to be "learning" and I drove easy 50%throttle or less for 200 miles. I have a 2600lb trailer I can drag around a few miles and see if it responds differently. And report back when I do. Eoc is lacking on communications.... Id probably reinstall and drive nice for a while to see how it responds.... I'm assuming this is what they are going to tell you to do.

That what I was expecting … I literally installed the tune, drove about 100 miles or so over the first few days, then towed my 4800lb+ travel trailer about 300 miles …

I wasn’t provided anything about a relearn, I only learned that from the forum …

So I pulled my 2600 deck over around a bit yesterday... 25miles. I noticed nothing abnormal. Mixed through town and back the highway. I'd personally reinstall trans tune and not tow or drive aggressively for a bit. I'd not rule out that something was wrote incorrectly in the tune but I'd say they are sent out all the same. As far as guidance from EOC, I'd still be waiting on them to send the instructions for the delete... so looking at the internet was the only reason I knew to make sure the first time its driven you get through all 8 gears before 70mph, keep throttle below 50% and really no set time as trans seems to continuously keep "learning"

I have the EOC Stage 2 SOTF with Trans tune on my Wrangler, and you all are correct, no information was provided by EOC. But I was aware that I needed to take it easy allowing it to re-learn shift points and other parameters. I have had mine installed for 6 days now and only driven about 200 miles. Each day the shifting has improved. What I was concerned about on one day was gone or improved the next. It is definitely improving day to day. And so far I am very happy with it. The only big concern I had was that it would short shift between 2nd-3rd gears, as if 2nd never even got a chance to do its job. But after driving for another day, this has resolved itself.

I do not know much about these ZF 8spd transmissions, but in my past I did a lot of development work with Allison Transmission and General Motors. During that time I was continuously reprogramming the TCM parameters and assisting end users with shift issues on mainly the larger vehicle segments. I learned a lot about the learning sequence of these systems. In general, modern transmissions undergo learning cycles in varying ways. It is based not only on miles but time as well as on/off cycles and driving patterns.

The first few days were the most critical as the initial learning cycles set the primary parameters and the driver will notice significant changes. So it is critical to take it easy, on throttle input, allowing frequent shifting between all gears. After that normal driving is generally ok, but understand the learning process really continues indefinitely. As the TCM learns, the changes are minimal with more time/drive cycles applied. Eventually, the settings just adapt to your typical driving styles.

As for EOC, if they simply provided basic information it would resolve so many concerns. But they only want to be a reseller and have little interest in the support side of things. In my personal experience, sending a direct message to MR Tuning (who writes both ECU and TCM tunes for EOC) is much more responsive and helpful.

I actually reprogrammed the TCU with the stage 1 tune, enjoying an easy commute this week to "learn" the transmission.

So, this week...

  1. I swapped my 315/70r17 E rated KO3 tires with a new (warranty replacement) 37/12.50r17 C rated KO2.
  2. Updated TAZER tire setting for new tires, using GPS... the perfect setting was 36.36in
  3. unmarried the tazer
  4. reinstalled the EOC Trans tune
  5. married the tazer and ONLY changed the tire size back to 36.36
Since driving to work, the goofy behavior seems to have gone away, it behaves calmer and smoother... I am taking it easy on the throttle and using the shifter to downshift to a stop. also making my max speed 70mph.

SOMEHOW, I am getting the BEST MPG i have ever seen, i got to work 20miles, mostly highway and some traffic on the streets (stop and go) with a whopping 31MPG! Best I have ever seen on the 35's was 26MPG, best I ever saw bone stock with stock tune was 22mpg...

I have more testing and "learning" to perform... perhaps after a month, ill be able to hitch up my trailer. Also, I should be installing a lift here shortly, well see how that impacts my MPG. my last gladiator was also an eco diesel, same tires, mopar lift but no tuning would get about 21-23mpg, and it was an 80th Anniversary (better aerodynamics), I am curious how the stage 1 plus trans tune on my rubicon will fare... if I can reliably bust out 30mpg by limiting my top speed to 70MPH...... id be blown away.

BTW: Since I plan on towing, my plan was to eventually regear to 4.56. I am almost afraid to do that since it seems these larger tires, which affect final drive ratio, are netting such good MPG. 37in tires with stock 3.73 gears are very close but still better than the Rams 3.21 gears (3.32 effectively). I believe the ram ecodiesel with 3.21 gears is rated for 8000lbs...... sooooo, regear may be out the window.

In my Diesel Wrangler, with the stage 2 SOTF and trans tune, I noticed an increase as well. On my 26 mile commute (one-way) today with about 14 miles interstate using the 50hp tune setting, my average from my driveway to work parking lot was 28.2mpg. The highway speeds were between 75-85mph. I am running 37's on 4.75" lift. A couple days ago I put on about 20 miles of easy driving in the 30hp mode around my town, with no traffic occasional stop lights and 30-45mph speeds, I averaged 33mpg.

I tow a 3500lb. boat on occasion, I have yet to pull it with the tune, but prior to that I would get about 21mpg. I can't wait to see how it does with the tune.

Are you guys looking at the average MPG on the dash? If so its going to show a couple MPG better than your really getting with it being tuned so be sure to hand calculate that mileage. I get a steady 26 mpg hand calculated on the hwy when tuned but the trip mileage will show 28 to 29. If I go back to stock then the mpg will match the hand calculated.

I did some off roading this last weekend and averaged 24 mpg, thought that was pretty nice with all the slow off roading.
