Has anyone tried adding the oem subwoofer and amplifier to their gladiator? I have found the sub and amp on a mopar site and its not too expensive. Not sure though if I would need additional harnesses or not. Any information on this would be appreciated.

Thanks

Yes, you need the harness.

No I don't know how involved it is to run it and attach to where it needs to be.

Since you don't have the premium sound system, I would guess none of the wiring is there. You can buy the parts, but they are not really intended for add-on use. It will be on you to install, connect, and make it work.

I build police vehicles for a living so removing interiors and running wires is what I do so as long as I can get all the parts I can get it to work. Have a jscan too if thats needed. MY gladiator is a sport s so kinda hoping there is a harness ran just not connected.

Harnesses are customized for each truck depending on the options on the build sheet. If the option does not have dealer installation available after being built, the odds of the extra wire being there are very slim.

"Not too expensive" is highly subjective. From a sound quality, wattage output, subwoofer quality aspect unless you're getting oem parts free or nearly free they will be more expensive than aftermarket parts with much higher sound quality, wattage, and subwoofer output. The only thing I question more than the people wanting to "upgrade" their sport with used low quality rubicon take off springs and short travel shocks are those trying to "upgrade" to oem stereo components. Buy a skar 5 channel amp and an aftermarket sub for a few hundred dollars and it will sound way better than "upgrading" to the oem Alpine stuff. Add aftermarket speakers to the app and sub combo and it went even be in the same planet of sound quality or volume.

I never understood this choice by manufacturers, I know it's all about the money but how much would it cost to just make one harness with every connection and install it on every vehicle manufactured. You'd have the wiring, sheathing, and connectors, plus the labor of installation on the assembly line. Owners looking to upgrade their vehicle could but packages/kits throughout the years of ownership spreading out the costs while increasing dealership sales.
For example if Jeep notices that many of their Gladiator owners are dissatisfied with their audio systems they could make an upgrade kit with better speakers and a sub that would be plug and play.

This guy is right. You are going to spend more money and more time installing a subwoofer that will sound worse.

I have a 2025 Nighthawk. Its missing a lot but wired for everything. It didn't come with automatic headlights. I popped the sun sensor cover and boom its wired. It didn't come with proximity doors. I checked the door harness connector and boom it has pins 15 and 16. The two random things I wanted to install on my Jeep it was already wired for. Now I'm wondering about the sub. However, Ill likely still go with the aftermarket Kicker Hideaway.

Yeah. Do the OEM head units have subwoofer inputs that aren't tied into the harness? Not being forced to replace the OEM headunit would be the only "Pro" I can think of when going this route.

I went with one Kicker Hs8. The 8 inch sub. Good enough for me. The kicker 8 inch and 10 inch use the same harness . There is a guy on reddit that stated me unplugged his 8 and plugged in the 10. He said he could not tell a difference. Both subs use 14 gauge wire, 8 inch is 150 watts and 10 inch is 180 watts. So I believe him I don't think the difference is going to be that much. Amazon had the 8 inch for 239.99 new. Went that route .

Is the sub attached to anything or just sitting behind the seat?

Not attached to anything . Already sits tight with seat down. If you put the seat in place that thing is secure as can be .
