I'm thinking about purchasing some lights for both the A Pillars and the Bumper. Many of the lights I'm looking at have either a DRL or Backlight option as well as the standard beam. I'm trying to figure out the "best" way to wire ALL the DRL/Backlights to the same AUX switch so I can run them all on while keeping the power for the main beams on the other 2 AUX. I was thinking about some small BUS bar for the + and just stack the grounds on a single post? I know that the new DD switch box has a common bus just for those, and I like that, just not sure I want to spend the money when I have the 4 AUX free.

On mine I took both leads from my Diode Dynamics fogs with this feature, tied them together and used a solder shrink wrap connector to a wire gauge the next size up and ran that to #4.

So how does it work? can you switch between the modes with the #4aux button?

No. The Diode Dynamics lights plug into the fog lamps for the main power so when I want the fogs, I use the factory button like always. When they're off, #4 turns on the dim backlight feature. If you were using something that did not tie into the fog lamp wiring, you'd need to use two of the switches or of course hardwire a switch in. I have some KCs in a box waiting for a weekend where it isn't pouring and those will receive their main power from the aux switch and since they too have a backlight feature, I'll probably tap into the existing lead going to #4 so I don't tie up too many switches with something that has no function and just looks neat. haha

LED? Some of the factory aux switches do higher amps than others. Check the manual. You can probably run them off the bus bar like you want through the higher rated switch.

Everything is LED. The backlighting is on one of the two low-amperage switches which is good for 15A from the factory. Since the backlighting of the fogs is practically nothing, I can easily add the second backlight from the KCs to it. The KCs main circuit will need one of the higher amperage switches.

I have three different led lights that all have amber DRL,s. The amperage draw on these is minimal. Instead of using up one of my AUX switches I tied all the DRL pigtails int one of the DRL harnesses that are under the wheel well for the fender DRl's. Used a splitter harness from Quadratech and it made it super easy. There were earlier problems with this harness with it being wired backwards but mine was ok. Even if it was it would have Benn easy to rework it.

I have 2 sets of backlit Diode Dynamics lights and run all the pos/neg to a 5A post in an 8-gang Auxbeam switch panel. I used a heatshrink splice connector to attach the 2 pos cable to 1 pos (same for neg), added a ferrule end to secure into Auxbeam switch box. I now have a single DRL button on my panel to turn them all on at the same time.
