Soooooo, it's like RockFest in '72?

Oh wait... you meant "ducked" with a "D". Wait, that doesn't sound right either.

Damn autocorrect!

I live near a Stelantis battery plant and a Stelantis engine plant. I see about every model of Jeep made in the last 20 years running around locally. Sometimes I see them with a circus clown rainbow display of ducks on their dash. Compass, Patriot, Commander, Renegade, Wrangler, Wagoneer etc. all with varying amounts of ducks.

Others with no ducks or wave stickers or “It’s a Jeep thing” swag at all.

I donated two that were left on my door handle to my mother in law (Compass) and sister in law (Grand Cherokee). It made them happy their Jeeps got ducked. I just donate them to whoever I know that might get a laugh or a smile out of it..

Keep on keeping on. The duck thing had its moment. Wait a minute, something new will pop up.

I mean we’ve had useless “Brush bar“ tube bumpers, enough silver bullet KC’s to kill a battery in ten minutes, about every logo tire cover imaginable, metal mesh light covers (they worked awesome), 5” body lift pucks that may or may not shatter, abs plastic fenders that lasted ten minutes off road, motorcycle mirrors that rarely stayed in position for doors off, paracord grab handles that were DIY then flooded on sites like etsy, “It’s a Jeep thing” and ”Jeep life” and ”life is good” logo damn near everything wearable or packable, angry grilles, angry eyes light covers, demon eyes light covers, halo everything, the list will go on and on and on….

People are so triggered over a little rubber duckie, like it challenges their manhood. Must be a riot at parties, likely get pissed if someone says the wrong word within earshot.

People take themselves too seriously and can't handle anything challenging their self-view - I mean, really? A small toy that's supposed to be nothing more than "I like your Jeep, have a great day" - triggered! Bang! Extreme anger, lashing out, calling people names on the internet, blasting anyone ducking "HOW DARE YOU GET CLOSE TO MY GLORIOUS RIDE WITH YOUR CRAP!"
Wow. A lot of pent-up anger - over a toy and people trying to spread some fun.
Helps me separate those in lists to eventually meet vs. others.
Then there's those who MUST in public declare their manhood/manliness, masculism by bragging about how they destroy the object of spreading some fun.
I'm too macho for you and to prove it I blow up your duck/feed it to the dogs and put a curse on you. HOW DARE YOU!
Are people really that challenged they must declare their macho by stating publicly how violent they get with a TOY? HAHAHAHAHA - wow!
Triggered!
I need to dig out past copies of psychology today and see what's said about such things -
Anyone triggered by a toy sure ain't my type - even worse when they must publicly declare their disdain, hatred and how violently they destroy a TOY or object of kindness or fun.
Man, you sure read a lot into someone who just doesn't want to play your game.

What's funny is the opposite is true, I see way more people being unreasonable about rejecting a duck or not playing. Just look at the variety pack of ad hominem nonsense in this post. People who don't want to play are psychologically damaged (they aren't by the way, and if you want to argue the point you'd better come with some letters after your name), they have a small penis, they are angry people who will become violent if you say the wrong thing in earshot. 🙄

On one hand you have the "Please do nothing. Please keep your hands to yourself and don't touch my very expensive truck."

Seems pretty reasonable to me it's basically the same rules we learn in pre-school.

On the other hand you have the people who insist everyone MUST play their game and they have to participate or there is something wrong with them. These people can't seem to take "no" for an answer and kinda give off the incel vibe of entitlement; you know the one, that others have to do what they want.

I feel sorry for the people who date them, assuming they can get any dates with that attitude.

What ever happened to common sense and basic courtesies? There are also a lot of assumptions here that Ducking is harmless - having had people place ducks in ways that cause damage, maybe it isn't all the time and others no longer want to partake. Maybe that trinket you left is on the vehicle of a domestic violence survivor who has a protective order against their abuser - and that duck is going to cause a wave of anxiety or a panic attack because it might mean their abuser is back. It might not make sense to you, but unless you've been in that situation, you don't know what it's like.

But sure, placing your duck is way more important than how others may feel or think about it. The world revolves around you, and everyone has to just let you do what you want or they are clearly the damaged ones.

Been ducked 3 times today. 2 at the Flight 93 Memorial, and one at a local restaurant close by. I ducked 3 Jeep in return. One guy was standing next to his when I did it. It was his first duck. He thanked me a couple of times for it.

In person ducking is great, you get to offer, they get to say yes or no. That's how it should be.

I get it, that's how it should be.
I've read your post prior and it changed my thinking.

Many folks don't want to participate and just because they don't, should not be berated, mocked, or named called because they don't like someone hanging around or touching personal property. Or they just don't go for the whole theme of the gesture.

Will I accept a duck from someone you bet. Will I be apprehensive if I see someone around my vehicle maybe.

We need to be more respectful of each other's.

The one time that I'm not in the Gladiator! One of these Jeeps had ducks, the other did not. I have one on my dash which I believe indicates that I'm okay with someone leaving a duck (or a $100 bill) on my Jeeps. I put one on the Jeep with ducks and didn't touch the one without. It's just my take on the issue.

It’s one of those double edge swords…… damned if you do, and damned if you don’t.

Those people who enjoy ‘ducking others’ need to be respectful of the jeeps (personal property) they duck. Those people who are being ‘ducked’ need to be respectful of the intentions behind it (to make you happy).

It goes both ways….. That’s the problem with society these days. You can’t say or do anything without offending someone. The result of that is….people stop doing things or saying things to appease those who are offended. But why?? I refuse to let the ‘offended’ control my decisions to duck people. Of the 2 people that I might’ve offended, there’s another 100 people who were happy.

It’s a little rubber duck, for crying out loud…… 😎

I don't participate but I don't really mind the people that do. I think it started out as a fun and innocent thing but just got out hand. My 5-year old daughter loves little ducks and would be tickled if someone left one on our Jeep.

They aren't even a unique thing to Jeeps anymore, MINI owners have been doing it for a while and now they are just a thing regardless of brand.

I was never a fan of them to begin with, but they are meaningless at this point, even for people who play the Duck game.
I own a mini and a jeep (fringe outcast in both: 15 Countryman ALL4 S and 23 Sport S Gladiator) and I'm not into ducks (only because don't like touching other's cars or them touching mine without asking)
the other things I don't mind
When in the mini, I follow rule #1 always park next a mini!
I don't wave first to mini's but i'll wave back,
Same in the jeep, I don't know is there a list of rules like mini?

I currently have two ducks associated with my vehicle. One was originally given to me by the dealership, although I have since misplaced it. The other was left on my driver-side door handle one evening while I was at Buffalo Wild Wings. It's a unique, gamer-themed duck that resembles something out of Minecraft, with the phrase "Game On" printed on it. Since it's green—matching the color of my Gladiator—and aligns with my interests as a gamer, I decided to keep it. It now sits on my dashboard as a fun personal touch.

While I don’t actively participate in "ducking" others, I don’t have any issues with the trend. That said, I do find it a bit overwhelming when people have 20 or more ducks lined up on their dash—it just looks a little chaotic to me. But that’s probably just my OCD reacting to the clutter.

I get that every day where I live. Just hammers my OCD nerve. Like every color in the adult toy store was chosen and then barfed across the dash. I've even seen other brands driving around here with ducks across the dash. I'm guessing it's all the Stelantis factory workers and friends. It's like somebody dumped out a funplex claw machine with ducks in it onto their dash.
