People Work?
A few from this morning out the kitchen window.
Hard to believe that I used to get up two hours before first light and drive 30 miles just to hope to hear a gobbler in Spring.
They're delicious, but now I just shoot them with the camera.
Maybe I'll take another one next year.

I still have the Maytag twin cylinder 2 stroker I found in a landfill as a teen. I thought it an air compressor at first, then realized what it was and found the rest of the parts needed to restore it. It's a rather rare "long frame" version, having the longer mounting points on the fuel tank (which is the base of the engine). It's an early twin - early serial number, 2nd month of production if I recall correctly. I'm sure the paint is flaking off by now.
I've got 3 versions of the Maytag single horizontal cylinder engine. I wish I had the fruit jar version - so named because you used a 1 quart glass canning jar as the fuel tank.
I also have a neat 2 cycle bike conversion engine from the 1950s, a military signal corps Briggs and Stratton 110v DC generator, and a larger power hacksaw - big brother to the smaller one shown in the pics above. It was converted to run from electric motor but still works nicely from a hit and miss engine.

Hobby turned into sort of a side thing - plating and restoration of classic car parts (all done at home)

Black zinc AMC hood latch striker -

Shock tower bolts and nuts (AMC)

AMC HVAC blower motor resistor - these run hot so the shield/housing typically gets really rusty. I disassemble, clean and plate the housing and the connection terminals -

Yellow zinc - AMC Prestolite wiper motor and mounting place, replaced the cloth on the motor wires (Need to find a SOURCE for the cloth used on those wires!!)

Chemistry and electricity - I use electrolysis to derust parts in many cases - this process can be scaled up to huge proportions using wading pools and a welder as a power source - I helped a guy to a complete utility trailer frame in his back yard!
This process will also often help remove paint.

The plating power supply (blue) can control volts and amps down to the hundredths, be set to reverse for using for cleaning, programmed with various programs for plating or cleaning, with whatever amperage and time you choose.

Nice, definitely watermark photos (oops, I glazed over some of the watermarks), the AI generators are combing the internet and putting out reenactment videos and photos as historical that are not true to the events even changing how and what actually happened. A YouTuber that's does the same put out another few videos on the problems of it. Several content thieves had done that with his groups reenactment videos and were pushing it a historical videos and pictures. Ian of Forgotten Weapons did a video about it too.

Bill,
Hopefully you have trained others or got several more involved with this to carry on your work to spread it around for more. Along with writing some books about it, we have become a disposable market world. Don't fix just replace it. πŸ˜–πŸ€¬ Many people I know if not most just throw away and get new. Even when the part that failed isn't hard to fix. To me some of it is patience and soothing to me. I wouldn't consider any of my woodwork to be perfection. On that quite the opposite, build to work and last, looks be damned.
A friend who does museum quality woodwork and I joke on the differences of building some things. He will draw up blueprints down to the 16th of an inch on a handicap ramp to the, AHA specs and all the others. Then fret on it being off 1/8 a inch due to the actual conditions on site. I look at the project site, grab a notebook, ruler, and pencil, scribble "hack" out a plan and materials list then bang it together with the consideration of material costs and needs. You can see the frustration when it doesn't match his blueprints due to to circumstances, I'm of F### it, is it within specs required and will it do the job and safely.
I'm sure we would be banging the desk over many things working on something about the other. On many things I probably subconsciously make out of wack just because. Likely due to having lived in a highly regimented life in first years in the Army. Daily inspections from uniforms, room / barracks, wall locker, and all equipment. During many of the barracks and wall locker inspections the person doing the inspection would trash it just to be an a-hole.

Yeah, there is some shady stuff out there. Ian is great. I used a couple of his videos to learn how to field strip the BAR. Was a daunting task for sure the first few times even having the video pulled up while doing it/

Dark Moon Photography is actually a member of our re-enacting group. They do a great job in all of our events.

Well this one took a while.
First two hours only produced one close encounter.
Came back inside and took a break, had some Scotch, rested my neck, and went back out.
I had the second one in less than ten minutes!

An 80 year old friend of my wife (who is also a quilter and part of a group that gets together weekly to solve world issues and once in a while sew something) used to collect stamps.
Over the last year she has given me her assortment of stamps, including an old album and a bunch of stamps she had bought new over the years as they came out, and some she bought from hobby supply outlets.
Recently she was cleaning part of her house and ran across a small bag with several more envelopes of stamps, mostly new, some still in the package they the post office sold them in.
Nice since I'm supposed to avoid lifting and a few things while I heal up from surgeries (and protect my head especially for a while) I have been going through those stamps. It's going to take hours, many, to go through it all.
