Factory brake upgrade - best for the bang

After rolling 55K+ and still running factory brakes and upgrading to 37" tires for the last 2 months (ran 35's from 0 miles to just under 55K), its probably time to upgrade the brakes. Their still fine, but I have noticed over the last couple weeks a slight decrease in braking distance which is to be expected with the larger tires.

I've read the pros and mostly cons on vented and crossed drilled rotors etc. If I'm gonna spend money on new rotors and pads, what is the best route? Factory rotors and pads? Z36 performance rotors and pads?

Are the big name kits worth the $ thousands spent like Baer, APB, Powerstop, Willwood, Teraflex, etc over just replacing rotors and pads from Mopar?

When it's time for me to change pads and rotors. I'm going with EBC Yellowstuff pads and rotors. Have used them before on my Power Wagon and Grand Cherokee TrailHawk. Combine this with stainless brake lines. It's right there with the BBK kits.

I have stainless lines from Rusty's. They are the best imo as they have all the OEM fitting allocations to strap in down properly and they are a bit bigger diameter than most other kits. I also run Prestone DOT4 MAX brake fluid for the extra heat capacity and Z36 pads. I wanted EBC pads but they are never in stock when i need to order them. If you can get em, EBC is the way to go. But the Z36 is a solid backup. My brakes are great, I got to compare them to a wrangler with a big brake kit and 35s. I out braked them easily. also solved the 4lo creep i was starting to get on my OE setup. But yeah i run 37s and full overland suite, out braked a lighter rig on smaller tires with bigger brakes. I don't say his brake kit sucked cus if i had to guess, I think his fluid was still original and not properly flushed.

The yellow stuffs make a little noise when braking, but they're the best pads I've ever used. I put the entire set of EBC yellow stuff pads and their sport slotted rotors on a BMW 135i, and that thing would stop on a dime. Those prices are astronomical now though.

I think a brake fluid flush would probably do wonders on helping with that brake feel in the short term.

As to replacement, I am a fan of the Powerstop brake kits and would recommend them for a one and done thing rather than piecing rotors from one source and pads from another. A set of stainless lines would be in order and what I would recommend.

Stainless brake lines made a big difference on my Kawasaki motorcycle. Might not notice the difference as much here but I'm sure it would be an improvement.

I did the same swap at 40k miles, now at 60k miles, these are great with 37s and towing my 27ft TT.

Need someone to compile a list of aftermarket 17" wheels that will fit this kit. Quite a chunk of change to drop for a kit that might not fit on 17s.

Yeah, my wheels do stay clean, whereas on other vehicles they almost always look dusty

Your other brake lines expanded? The steel stretched?
Or you are replacing rubber with SS braided lines.............

I replaced the OEM rubber lines with stainless and EBC pads. I had replaced the brake fluid before which did improve things but you could feel the fade on hard rides.
Stainless and pads definitely better.

Glad they worked out for you and you're happy with them. I just can't bring myself to buy Chinese made products.
