Tim Kuniskis Appointed to Lead Stellantis American Brands and North America Marketing and Retail Strategy, Company Revives Iconic SRT Performance Division

Jeep Gladiator Tim Kuniskis Appointed to Lead Stellantis American Brands, Including Jeep j

July 2, 2025 , Auburn Hills, Mich. - Stellantis announces Tim Kuniskis is appointed head of American brands and North America marketing and retail strategy, reporting to Antonio Filosa, Stellantis CEO and chief operating officer, North America & American brands. In this newly created role, Kuniskis will work across the brand portfolio to further build and enhance the connections customers have with the company’s products, marketing efforts and dealer network in the region.

Kuniskis retains his position as CEO of the Ram brand. Each of the current brand CEOs will continue driving their respective brands.

“Connecting with our customers, delivering the products and experiences they want, is critical to reaching our full potential,” said Filosa. “Tim has proven time and time again that he is masterful at building brands that reach the heart and soul of the customer. We will leverage his energy, his strategic mindset and his competitive spirit to supercharge all our brand activities.”

Stellantis also announces the return of its iconic performance division, Street and Racing Technology (SRT), under the leadership of Kuniskis. The move marks a bold step in unifying high-performance engineering across Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep® and Ram under a single, dedicated identity.

Consolidating the best performance engineering talent from across the four American brands, the SRT division will deliver vehicles that push the boundaries of power, aerodynamics, handling and technology, on both the street and the track, ensuring enthusiasts get the power, precision and passion they expect.

“We’re getting the band back together,” said Kuniskis. “SRT is another box we needed to check as we head into a product launch cadence enabling more performance than we’ve ever seen before. We’re working with our product development and technology organization to select the best engineers in powertrain and vehicle dynamics to build a team worthy of the SRT name.”

The newly reestablished SRT performance division will oversee Direct Connection and North American motorsports initiatives under Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep and Ram, including participation in the NHRA and Ram’s recently announced plans to return to the NASCAR Truck Series in 2026.

Another identity rather than merit-based hire.

US sales down 10% YTD? Let's run it back with the same good ol boys!
Tim is the Godfather to the Hellcat and all things performance over the last decade. Tavares was the problem, not Kuniskis.

How's that product line these days? I don't think this is making the point you think it is.

I'm not sure what DEI or DUI has anything to do with Tim Kuniskis, but it does sound like good news for those wanting to escape the 3.6l or the ecodiesel. Maybe we will see a Hells Fire Gladiator.
I think they had the world's fastest "SUV" for a while - maybe they'll follow-up with the world's fastest mid-sized truck?

I could see myself in one of those Jeeps with that engine years ago - sort of a sleeper. Take off any indication of what was under the hood. Make people think it was just another Grand Cherokee out there with a V6............ then leave them in tire smoke.

Heck, people have underestimated some of things I've drive over the years, pull up next to me at a stop and they have a disappearing lane, them believing I'll grandpa it through the intersection and they'll jump over in front of me only to be surprised and trying to avoid the curb as I leave them in the dust.
The fun with a hellcat Gladiator............

I'm legit glad you've never worked for a business who's top leadership ran the company into the ground. I unfortunately have. You can tell management all the things you want but when they don't receive that info and act, nothing you can do except try not to sink with them.

The brand CEO's told Tavares what would happen over his stupid plans, did he listen? Absolutely not. Dodge, Jeep, and Ram thrived and competed heavily with Ford and GM in sales numbers until Tavares took over. Once he made the EV decision and raised prices astronomically, CDJR was doomed. On top of that, he cut factory support so quality tanked as well. Again, not Kuniskis, Filosa or the rest of the brand CEOs (at the time) doing at all.

So yeah I do think it's making the point I meant it to.

My Grand Cherokee with the 5.7 is pretty much a dog. I turned off the MCD or what ever they call it. But I did not opt for the tune that comes with the program. It has been reliable once I took care of the " dealership maintained" history.

Tim Kuniskis could put some life back into Jeep or at least open Jeep up to a new crowd. Only time will tell.

The mental gymnastics required to convince oneself that a CEO is actually not responsible for their brand 🤪 and that leading a failed product line is actually an endorsement. 🤪🤪 Wasn't me, I'm just the CEO. 😂

Not that Tavares was exactly killing it, when he took over CDJR was at least 5 years late for the EV push and he had some catching up to do. Ford and GM are each selling 100k+ BEVs a year. CDJR? Zero. Wonder where some of the market share went...

Do you have any sources for your claims of what Tavares was told? Truly curious as these discussions are typically not public and if Kuniskis leaked what he said that would make the appointment even more questionable.

Also the recent initial quality survey belies your claims of quality issues.

Best statement I've read in a while. Fingers crossed. (well, sort of, joints aren't behaving today, I'll tape them in place)

I will clarify because I misspoke, of course Kuniskis and the bunch is to blame, they are leadership. So I get your point there. My point is they aren't calling the shots, Tavares was, if you need a source to prove that then go Google it yourself. Kuniskis has been on record in video saying he did not agree to what changes were being made and that is why he made the decision to retire. Again, simple Google search. CDJR was behind on the EV rollout because no one wanted the crap to begin with, the sales prove that lol.
