It happens when some believe their thinking matches the majority - and they know this because they have talked to a few people. They've not traveled the world (let alone hung out with other, unlike mined people) to see - their world isn't THE world.

Human thinking is such that in order for one thought to exist, you must get rid of all other thoughts - you can't see two at the same time. You can't work two opposing theories at the same time - it's not humanly possible.
There's a song verse that reflects this - from a band who sang mostly of "the human condition", as they said - "how one thought will live, provide the others die".

I just bought this 2024 a year ago….. I won’t be ready to buy something else for another 5-10 years (Knock on wood - this JT will bless me with 5+ years of trouble free driving).
