Yes, I am aware of the early 1900’s electric cars. But like you said, it fell out of favor due to a superior emerging technology, and so was not further developed for a hundred years or so. The modern day EVs did not pickup from where those early day experiments let off.You do realize that EV's have been around as long as ICE vehicles have?
In fact, EV's were winning the "war" of adoption till about 1910-1915 when improvement of the starting procedure, and simplified maintenance gave the edge to the ICE powered vehicles.
