Although, my niece recently moved here to PA from another southern state. The stories she would tell us about the people down there. It’s mind boggling…..

I live in NC, and traffic and population has exploded exponentially due to the continued migration from the north to the south.

Must be something down here folks like.

I believe it…..
We were originally considering moving to N.C or S.C. for retirement….. specifically for the warmer weather (and, NOT going to Florida where EVERYONE goes🙄).

We might just stay here in PA…. find ourselves a smaller home with a 6 car garage 😆 and lots of land.

Time will tell… but retirement is approaching….

Well, lemme tell you. I’ve been in the two Carolinas for 69 years, and if the summer heat won’t kill you, the humidity will.

Don't get me wrong, Toyota rocks, we have a 2017 Corolla that is basically bullet proof IMHO and yes the Tacomas are freakin badass, especially the older ones. Unfortunately because of the crazy creepy love locals have with Tacomas my loyalty will always be with Jeep even though they can kind of suck sometimes :CWL: . Put it this way, I was ridiculed for being local and driving a Jeep and not a Tacoma simply because the mindset here with many locals is, only "white ppl" drive Jeeps
Since all the rental companies rent a ton of Jeeps, driving a Jeep around the island just screams "haole" lol.

I'll still rent one when they're cheap, but I sure as hell don't leave anything in it, and don't lock the doors.

I went to Maui a couple months ago. Nearly every rental had no rock slides. It made them easy to spot.

True. Once you cross the Eastern divide between Old Fort and Black Mountain in the south, or at Deep Gap in the higher country.

I went to school outside of Black Mountain and headed to Blowing Rock Sunday.

But all my family is in the Piedmont. Hot as hades in summer. But you knew that.

Don’t blame me! For the last 35 years, I’ve been telling everyone I know from Jersey & NY that NC sucks and don’t come down here! 😝

We were looking at the Asheville area until hurricane Helene hit. My wife said "fuck that, I'll stick with the wildfires"

Asheville is okay. Most of it anyway. High ground weathered it. But you need to be a hippie to be happy in Asheville.

Not that there’s anything wrong with that.

I’m taking the Jeep to ride some riverside forest roads a couple of hours north/northeast of Asheville on Sunday. Wilson Creek. The damage from Helene will make one slack jawed.

We mountain bike, trail run, whitewater raft. Wife is an artist. It ticked most of the boxes for us.

That in mind, I think you would like it there. But I tell you, it still gets hot in what I call the southern mountains (Asheville).

90 minutes north east, around Boone and Blowing Rock it is always 10 degrees cooler, higher elevation, but you’ll freeze your butt off in winter.

I'm originally from the east, and humidity is dumb. It gets 110 here in the summer and below 0 in the winter, but at least you can still be outside in it because it's like 10-15% humidity.

Oh, and @STACHES . I see you have a ’71 240Z. This is totally from left field. Another Japanese vehicle.

’69 Datsun 2000 I owned in the early ’80’s. Daddy of the Z.

🤣 Southern PA tends to identify as….something else…….🙄 One day, it’ll be rainy, raw, ugly and cold for days. An like a light switch overnight - it’ll be 95, humid, and dry for weeks.

Last year, we had 3 weeks in the middle of JUNE that was 95+ and no rain.
Normally, we get that kinda weather in the middle of August.
This year? In the middle of June - was rainy and 60’s for weeks.

I’d love some predictability…….consistency….. and warmer winters. 😉
