Boys shop just called,

He changed spark plugs and coils, he said it’s running smooth, on the way to pick it up now. Said I must have put shit gas/ stop putting regular gas. But I’ll get more info when I see him

Shit gas would cause all the cylinders to misfire. Nor do multiple coils just go out at once. Hope it works out but I would temper expectations
Sorry, but I'm with @Hootbro (as is common). No way it's the gas (and regular is FINE). If he believes that regular gas will cause 3 cylinders on one bank to misfire and not the others, not sure how much trust I'd put into any other work..............
Multiple coil packs, all on the same bank? Naw........

Yeah awfully strange .. 🤔 I have seen the time I got ahold of some bad fuel missed on a few cylinders but it cleared up by next day and fuel up. Happened in a Toyota work vehicle.

The only one bank is the trip, I would have thought plugs earlier. A mechanic friend of mine had Toyota that ran rough, nothing seemed to point to the problem, but the customer had put platinum plugs in, swapped them back to the basic OEM NKG's problem solved. The computer didn't like the plats, but that wasn't one bank, and I would assume the dealer would have put OEM back in this Jeep. Maybe the mechanic dropped the last 3 on the concrete before installing and cracked the ceramic, I guess if it's back to running smooth be glad. Did the plugs from one bank look different than the other (fouling)?

If coils and plugs took care of it and he has written documentation of a recommended engine replacement, I believe my story would be heard loud and clear. That is criminal. Predatory shops like that need to be exposed.

That would be interesting, but a shocker. Really? 3 coil packs, or 3 plugs, all in the same bank? Wow, he needs to go buy a power ball ticket!

For the rest, yeah, someone would need to be called out on that.

It's amazing how much the PCM tracks things and can actually read if a plug fired or not - there are reasons the spark plugs that are called for are the spark plugs that are called for.

Anyone good with a scope can read exactly what's going on in a cylinder with fuel mixture, the ignition system and more - and the PCM in some vehicles is far better than the best human could ever be.

I've seen a bad diode in an alternator on a Toyota cause problems with the FUEL INJECTORS - the PCM reads things so closely that the ripple in the electric system from that bad diode freaked the thing out.

So what happened @Mark42 ? Seen you have been online at least twice today so I am going to assume it was not successful?
