compete here and there. I just use my Glock 19x or G45, both with red dots. Also, occasionally my cz shadow 2 fI’ll size. Using the correct power factor rounds will also help with follow up shots.
I’ve never owned a Glock, but have fondled them in the gun store. They don’t feel right in my hands…. I’ve fondled a CZ Shadow….probably a fullsize..and that was heavy. We have a Canik Rivel S at 43ounces - I can’t hold that thing steady up at the ready. Trying to keep it 30ounces or under…and of course, I’ll add a Holosun to that.

I recently bought a Walther PDP-X PMM and that thing failed to eject the brass on every single round. We tried just about everything…. even with 400 rounds thru it, factory loads or spicy reloads - even my husband had some failures. We have a couple guys (who are pistol instructors)….they shot it perfectly (big hands & HUGE biceps). 😆 We would’ve purchased a lighter recoil spring if they were in stock but I ended up returning the gun (30 day money back thing w/ Walther). Nice gun….but in its stock configuration (with 18lb spring), it wasn’t happy with girl grip.

I’ll probably go rent a 2.0 Comp this weekend…we’ll see how that fits / shoots for me.

M&P is a great gun, I think you'll like it based on what you said about other guns. The grip angle is more traditional but it also has a reputation for reliability that rivals Glock.

Glock grip angle doesn't work for a lot of people. I tried to force myself into it for a long time and found that after any sort of break from shooting, it would take a few draws to re-condition my presentation.

It's a big advantage to find something that fits the natural ergonomics of your body.

My daughter, 4' 11", does well with a 1911.

It may seem counterintuitive,
and a bit hefty at 39 ounces or so,
that a big 45 would be friendly.
However, the single stack magazine
makes for a slim grip
and the single action trigger
has a short pull and light break.

Also available in 9mm, alloy frames
and shorter slides and barrels.

She now has a Kimber Ultra II
in her birthstone, Amethyst.
A little over the top, no?

I carry a 4.25" S&W 40 Elite. I like that you can change the palm swell.

I'd carry one too if I wasn't in love with my 365 X Macro. I have a 4.25 M&P 2.0 with Monsoon Tactical's "dimebag" 10 port and it's awesome, but the Icarus grip module on the X Macro just sets it apart in ergonomics and comfort.

I’m partial to Glock. I have several. I also have several sigs. As a reserve police officer I try to stay with what I use on duty so I stay familiar with it in case I was to need to it. I recently purchased a honey badger 300 blackout pistol that I have a silencer for. Haven’t shot it yet. 64 gun safe is beyond capacity with several outside of safe

😆 I ended up ordering an M&P 2.0 Competitor. I should get it in a week or two.

Rented it today at a local indoor range….. The gun was a couple years old, didn’t have the ported barrel and probably beat to death, but it felt good & perfect weight. We had to use factory ammo - which was SPICY….. My husband was able to sneak in a few of his reloaded rounds (softer). As expected…. it ate it all.
This will be my 3rd M&P…….. so, I guess…. it’s sooo familiar to me (which is good).
We already have a Holosun for it…..😉

The husband needs to start making more rounds…..🤣
Excited to get it!!

That’s a sweet looking gun!!! I love the purple touches…… Not over the top at all. It’s her gun…. Let her personalize it!!

Whatever makes her happy to own it & shoot it!!

Bringing this back up from the dead….
Any of ya’ll shoot competitively? Or at least….dabble in competitive type drills?

I’m giving my carry piece a rest (Shield Plus 3.1), been shooting that every weekend for months (probably 2,000 rounds or more). Looking for something a little easier to acquire my 2nd shots….and go faster. Not necessarily looking to compete, but…it looks fun as hell.

Anyone have an M&P Metal Carry Comp (4.25” barrel, 28ounces) ported barrel?

Or the 2.0 Competitor (5” barrel, 29ounces) ported barrel?
I shoot long range tactical (200 to 1000+ yards) & steel (200-525 yards). Currently with a 6 GT but also 6.5 Creed.

My wife shoots a M&P 2 performance center with ported barrel. Not comp model, but she really enjoys shooting it. She had a Walther PPK in 380 and hated it. Was kind of a impulse buy as it was a friends gun who was selling it cheap and had less then 100 rounds through it. She had been learning to shoot on a Browning Buck Mark 2 bull barrel .22 and we bought the PPK for defensive gun. Never could get the feel af it and not that she has "man hands" but the slide would catch the top and back of her thumb every so often :)

Post pics when you get it.

Nice choice! Those M&P 2.0 comps are awesome!

My experience has been that hotter ammo runs softer in ported guns so when you get yours, try both the hot ammo and the soft ammo. If the ports are doing their job, the extra gas makes for flatter recoil.

My favorite training ammo for 9mm is Sellier & Bellot 115gr FMJ in all of my ported guns.

Everyone's hands seem to feel things differently though, so best to form your own opinion after testing. ;)

This will be my first ported gun. The hubby just bought a Prodigy….(his first ported) …. that thing shoots really nice. That dot doesn’t move much at all. Amazing….

About 2 weeks ago, I bought a Walther PDP-X PMM….. Nice gun…but I ended up returning it. Long story short….. the gun was happier with spicy ammo, big hands, and huge biceps (of which, even my husbands biceps weren’t big enough to prevent failure to eject brass failures). Sure..you could buy a softer recoil spring (out of stock) - I didn’t feel like chasing a unicorn that might not exist.

What do you prefer overall? Softer or hotter rounds for followup shots? Do you see a noticeable difference in accuracy with the hotter rounds?
Obviously…all of this will depend on just about everything…including my girl grip. 🤪

You're going to love it, the only thing that might turn you off is that porting is a bit concussive when shooting it. Especially indoors. Once you get used to it, you don't even notice it anymore.

The prodigy will probably shoot a bit smoother just because it's based off the 1911 platform, and that's just generally a buttery smooth system.

Well I don't really notice much difference in accuracy across most factory ammo. I just like the recoil impulse with 115 grain. That's not +P power but it's a fast moving round. The dot is predictable and settles back on target quickly with my gun.

I do bulk orders of this stuff from target sports (I'm an ammo+ member so it usually ends up being the best price):
Jeep Gladiator Gun guys (and gals) 1759108209066-t2

but I'll also shoot CCI Blazer Brass 124 or 115 grain if they don't have the S&B.

For defensive ammo, my preference is for Speer Gold Dot 115gr personal protection since it shoots just like my training ammo.

I did a some testing on ported handguns in the past and learned that not all porting works the same so you'll really want to test yours. You can read about my experience here if you want.
