Hi all. Just moved from a JLU to a 25 Mojave and have a few questions on bed covers and rails systems as I learn more about this thing and how to set it up.

I am leaning toward a trifold hard cover vs roll up, and have only seen the Mopar option in person. Are there similar or better tonneau covers you can recommend? Watertight (at least mostly) is important to me.

One thing I’m trying to figure out is a good option for transporting skis - with the cover installed and closed, but the skis not loose in the bed. I used the typical Thule ski packs attached to cross bars on the JLU, so my initial thought was whether a bed cover with some type of t-slot built into it where crossbars could be attached is a good option? Or are there better ways to attach crossbars above the cover? Anyone with a good rec on securing skis please chime in. Maybe there is something that can attach to the rail system but low enough in the bed to still close it.

Trail rail system - I’ve looked at the TeraFlex Uinta system as well as a more affordable Amazon option I saw linked on here. Is there anything to consider with regard to those when it comes to which bed cover will work? I assume they will fit under the cover with no interference problem?

Thanks!

Mike

A few options I've been looking into that allow a tonneau...

1. Retrax XR tonneau that has t-slot side rails that you could mount a variety of racks on
2. Xtrusion Overland XBRS cross bars
3. Billiebars cross bars

You can get a tonneau cover with T-slot rails. Retractable will allow for you to open and close the cover with low cross bars.
I have the following combo:
1. Rugged Ridge Retractable tonneau with T-slot rails. I believe it is a rebadged Roll-N-Lock cover. When I bought it, it was $300 less than the Roll-N-Lock, now it looks like the Roll-N-Lock is less. *Note that RealTruck is a sponsor and you can get a discount through the forum if you order from them.
2. Rhino Rack Cross Bars - Y02-490B-NT

Then you can put ski holders on the rails to store above the bed.

Another option is to get a folding or rolling cover with higher rails, for example:

Thanks for the ideas. I think I can find a good combination to work.

This is a pic of my setup. Those are small ski holders on the end(I use them for fishing poles). I also have room for a basket I use sometimes or my Mountain bike holders.

Thanks for posting this. This is pretty much what I had in mind.

What bike holders are you using?

Thule Proride XT - I use them in the T-Slots on the Rhino Rack. They have worked well. I don’t know if I would get them again though. They are mostly plastic and after a couple years of use, they feel less sturdy. I worry that the locking mechanism will wear out and the bike will fall out. If I could go back, I would probably get the 1UP racks which also look like they work with T-Slots.

I found a pic I had from this summer with the Thule racks.

And, this is my setup with the basket. It is a Yakima Skinny Warrior and clamps on to the rails. I use it when on vacation to add some extra cargo space:

What did you end up going with? I'm in Northern UT and am about to pull the trigger on a JT. Been looking for good ideas here.
I did the synetic auto retract with the lower profile crossbars. Working great so far.
