Does anyone have a suggestion for a dash cam that can be mounted on the dashboard itself, or on a multi-accessory rail? I live in Pennsylvania and state law does not allow for dash cams to be mounted on the windshield. Many US states have this same law. I am having a really hard time finding a dash cam that does to have a window mount. Not to mention if you buy a winshield mount camera, you would have to have the camera upside down in order to mount it to the dashboard. I bought one and ended up sending it back because of this issue. I contacted the manufacturer and had a few email conversations with them (located in China) about this issue and they were unaware about the US laws. They did try to help by offering some suggestions, but in the end the video would always be upside down when in use. I ended up sending it back. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks..

Update: I ended up buying a RedTiger F4Pro DashCam Cam. I researched the cameras that folks suggested and ended up contacting RedTiger. They were super helpful and quick to respond. I bought one and my husband installed it and we haven’t looked back. It was easy to setup and use. Thanks to everyone that responded and made suggestions. I really appreciated it. I will be buying another one for our other Jeep.

I have the redtiger f7n.
Yes, it is mounted almost behind the rearview mirror.
PA law states an object can not obstruct the vision of the driver.

I have had 2 PA police officers look at my camera because of witnessing accidents.
You will be OK as long as you don't mount the camera in front of your face.

Red tiger also makes dash mounted cameras if you still want dash mount. f9 i think is the model.

Is it realistically even enforced? I live in Delaware with a similar law and have mine mounted on the windshield. See a bazillion people every day on my work commute to PA with windshield mounted dash cam. Never mind ignoring how many mount their EzPass transponders in the same area but that is ok?

Thank you for responding and the suggestion. The PA code I had read, trying to find it now, mentioned they could not be mounted on the windshield at all. I'll research some more, but I'm going to check out the Red Tiger brand. Again, thanks so much for responding.

Just a thought have you looked into the Wolfbox? They came out with a new one the TriPro G900 which I believe is more suited for the Gladiator. Not sure if it would work or not since the camera is built into the rearview mirror.

Thanks for the response. Yeah, I see tons of people with the ExPass transponders mounted on the windshield, but I had read the PA law a while ago when I first started researching to buy and was concerned. And you're right, is it even enforced. Both my Gladiator and my husband's RubiconX have that big device (handles UConnect, etc) in the top middle of the windshield, which already block a lot of the view. Again, thanks for the reply, I appreciate it.

Have the same one and it’s completely secluded behind the review mirror. Half the time I have to bend down every few days to make sure it’s on.

Hello,

I also use the redtiger f7n I used the dongar power adapter that uses the power mirror harness to give the dash cam power for a more sleeker look. With the f7n you connect to the dash cam seamlessly via their app and there’s no need to remove the sd card for footage

Diddo on this. I'm using the RedTiger F9NP, windshield mounted, connected with a hard wire power line. The hard wire adds the bonus of having a security can.

FYI: It's a very good dash can set up, but not as good as mounting a GoPro or smart phone to the dash for creating trail videos. The latter does better with GPS tracking and motion tracking video.

I put in a BullitPoint picatinny rail on my dash. Mounted a phone holder, a Garmin GPS, and a Wolfbox i05 dashcam. It has worked out well. I found a flat plat that goes on the BullitPoint arm. Then used the sticker/plate on the i05 that normally goes on the window to mount to that. Was able to get the rotation right, so no upside down issue. It sits behind the GPS unit, low and out of line of sight.

I am traveling right now. Will post a photo when I get back home next week.

Thanks for the reply. Both of my Jeeps have that huge box behind the rear view mirror, so I can't position it behind the mirror. This was the main reason I wanted to mount it to the dashboard instead of the window.

Turns out, I have a photo I sent a friend earlier. Here is what the BullitPoint setup looks like.

If you happen to have a GoPro camera, Bullet Point comes with an arm for the GoPro.....
