Hardwiring dash cam

So I'm planning on installing a dash cam and leaning towards the hard wiring route before using the cigarette lighter. The thing is, everyone recommends to use F52 (cig lighter). I already tapped into that fuse for my Oracle halos.

Is there any other option for me to use before plugging into the cigarette lighter? Is there a micro fuse tap that allows for 3 fuses? (if that's possible).

I use the obd2 port. It has an alway on power source and an ignition power source. I bought the cable off of Amazon.

They make a micro usb, one like the picture and type c. Basically what ever you camera requires. I have one in my truck that hardly sees any use. So I turn the alway on switch off So I don't kill the battery. On the JT, it stays on unless I know it will be parked for a while.

No one recommends using the cigarette plug. If your video camera can record events when your vehicle is parked - and if you're spending more than $100 it should - you need to hard wire it to the battery for always-on power and include a circuit for ignition, so the device know when the engine is off and switches to park mode.

If you have the factory installed AUX switches, there are two hot wires (always on and switched) under the dash.

This is what I did and would recommend as well.

Thanks. I have the A129 Duo. Trying to set it up to go into park mode as well. I’m good at everything on vehicles except electrical stuff lol

That website / forum is a great resource. Easy to get lost though. If you have the AUX panel installed, wire to the ignition and battery lines (in the cab) and you'll be good.
