Cool. I’ll look at that. I just saw that Wolfbox has a setup with a Digital Touch screen rear view mirror for the front, and a weatherproof rear that comes with it. Even with a pile of accessories, it doesn’t look like the whole setup would cost much more than $350.

Edit: my trusted car audio/electronics guy said wolfbox sucks.
I'm using URVOLAX for this setup. Doesn't seem like my exact model is available, but honestly...I've been very surprised with the durability and stability of this unit. It's your typical run-of-the-mill <insert name of country> product...except, it actually holds up. I needed a digital mirror because my RTT blocks the rear view.

I went with this one because they have a detached front camera, which is stuck on my windshield and has never fallen off. The rear camera is stuck to the top of my hitch receiver and has stood up to the test of time, and grime, back there. It's actually a nicely shielded spot...the lens doesn't really get too dirty or wet, but the housing itself has proven to withstand the elements (it's gone through 110F+ Central CA heat to below freezing Tahoe snow storms).

I do have the parking hardwire kit, which is also unavailable...

But it works well to record while you're parked. Has built in looping to overwrite the oldest recordings, but you can lock any captures if you want. Just be sure to use a good microSD...I'm a fan of Lexar High-Performance series.

Overall, streaming/recording quality is pretty good. It's not 4K (1296p front, 1080p rear), but it never seems washed out and handles low light/night vision without much discernible noise. With my mounting location, there can be headlight glare, but it's never been a deal breaker. I like how you can digitally change the angle of both the front and rear, up and down. You can also do split view, and the GPS (for speed and compass) is spot-on.

Any photos of the install or the view from that camera position?

I like the receiver mount spot. If it didn’t tow, I’d consider that for sure.

Yea, it does have that flaw :CWL:

I was thinking if I ever had a camper or utility trailer to tow, I could buy a spare camera (they sell them) and just swap the plugs (since the camera only has about 12" of cable length...the extension is what runs from the interior to basically the hitch area).

That would work. I ordered a different camera system, but quite similar. I’ll figure out where the rear gets mounted when it arrives.y hitch skid would block that location ad well. I think my trailer hitch would potentially block the gen a license plate location, but that would mean the trailer is hooked up, so I guess who cares.

I’m looking for advice on dash cams for the gladiator. As I have a soft topper, by rear windshield is essentially unusable for a rear camera. I’m looking to see if anyone has positive experience with a setup that allows recording when driving, and parked, with a camera that I could hypothetically mount somewhere on the tailgate or bumper. Thanks very much.
I went with the Wolfbox reconditioned rear

I have the reconditioned Wolfbox 840, $89 plus $ 30 for the extra rear camera cable. I cand see out my shell any way. I leave the rear camera on. I can see a car at my rear bumper. It records front and back. I did spring for a big SD card. At night, things really stand out. Well worth it

I already ordered the Rydeen Tombo 360x at the recommendation of my mobile electronics guy. He said I wouldn’t be happy with the mirror strapped to my Oem mirror, as it can move around. The one I ordered replaced the Oem mirror, but uses the Oem arm. I’ll definitely do a write up when I see how it works out. I’ve been on a client visit over the weekend, so haven’t looked at this since early last week.

I can see why not having the mirror not strapped to the oem is a good thing. Thanks

Wolfbox makes OEM drop in mounting kits for most of their mirrors that don’t need the straps. I installed the Wolfbox 930 (using the camera as a forward camera). The camera has been through rain, dirt, etc and held up very well.

I’ll find out soon. My guy called to say the parts are in. I’ll pick them up from his shop tomorrow.

I was under the impression that those mounts only work if you don’t have adaptive cruise because of the mirror mount change.

Oh… you’re probably correct!
