Cool! Thats the first time I’ve seen the orange Kryptec where it made sense. :CWL:
Right! And its a perfect match.... I don't know if you can still get that color, but it was a deal when I got it, probably because its not too popular!

@Sunnysideup a Group of us are running the Idaho BDR and a couple side trails thru Montana on the way back to Wyoming. Love to chat and gain any local knowledge on the run as planned. Dates are Early July 2027

Let me know where you will be.... Check out Dark horse lake, ajax lake, Magruder corridor.... For southwest Montana trail options... South Central near the park I recommend Goose Lake near Cooke city... There are all different levels of skill needed. The Pryor's have a great few trails... It depends where you you are crossing back to Wyoming!

@Sunnysideup is spot on with the Cook City recommendation. Top of the World area up there is spectacular.

If you are doing the Idaho BDR and crossing over to Montana, you are likely going to do that via Magruder and/or Lolo pass. If you do, keep me posted... you'll be driving within 4 mi of my house. Early July is a good time for flyfishing the Bitterroot... if timing is right, could hit the Salmonfly hatch, or at the very least Golden Stones.

I have watched many U tube video of Idaho and a few other states. Most appear to be stock 4x4 level. Perhaps even full size truck size. Many of the passes look closed due to snow till mid summer. The Idaho BDR is on my to-do list before I can't do anything.

Initial route will be just east of the traditional IBDR So we can start with Boulder Basin. Nice trek after a long road show to get there. From there we will rejoin the IBDR and run Magruder and Lolo to Wallace ID. Hit Denver and Compressor Creeks before heading down thru Western Montana toward Yellowstone. Plan to hit Caruthers Lake, Wicks tunnel and McKelvey Lake before heading thru the park to Cooke City.
Our Rally Point will be the campground near Boulder Basin. If you guys are interested stay in touch.

@Sunnysideup Sorry to highjack your thread.

I've been dirt roading in Idaho 3 times - in 2007 and 2015 on a motorcycle and 2021 with my Jeep. The forest roads in Idaho are well mapped and kept in good condition. The biggest challenge is routing for gas and food. Don't miss the Custer Ghost Town and the dirt road that goes from Custer to Challis. On my last trip, an Idaho hunter told me he had quit hunting above US 12 because of the Wolves. I recently read a report that that gas was no longer available in Yellowpine. McCall in a neat little resort town with a "Moab" kind of vibe but it can get very crowded. I want to go back!

My Ram 2500 4x4 diesel , lifted 2 inches with Thuren soft ride springs would be much easier. in the 1000 mile highway ride than my modded Gladiator . Will a Ram 2500 do all those roads without damage ?

The bottom road in the video yes. As far as Goose Lake, McKelvey lake, Caruthers lake... That would be a " not advised" I have videos of the other trails being spoken about... There is a mix that your truck would be great on, and some where it would go beyond what the truck is designed for.

Well then, many of the U tube people are not showing much of it. They show mostly dirt graded forestry road.

If you are talking about the Idaho BDR... That's another thing... Lol. We have too many thoughts going on here. I think if you he BDR's are designed for stock rigs and you should be fine. I thought you were talking about the other trails mentioned to another poster.
