There is an artist named Ricardo Breceda, in Aguanga, CA (near Anza Borrego) that makes sculptures of his own interpretations of animals, dinosaurs, bugs, etc... Some are together in a small area for tourists that don’t have 4WDs but a lot of them are spread all over the desert which makes it kind of fun to search for them all. He’s got a place to view and buy them as well. I’ll look for some photos I’ve taken over the years and list a few. This dragon is probably the most “famous” of them out there.

I'm not sure what kind, but they are metal formed and welded. I found his instagram which will do a lot better of showing the artwork than my few photos. It's pretty impressive!

Years ago before Vail Lake became a KOA campground they used to have those sculptures along the 79S like Easter eggs. Sheep and cats and different animals along the road tucked back on the hillsides. It was fun trying to find them all. They have a store front on 79S now if you want to see them all and are in the area.
