I have been looking for something like this for a long time. Even saw a video online where this was tied into give a rear view on a travel trailer. The only think holding me back right now is the mirror itself IP67 rated as well? My jeep gets regularly rained in and I can't seem to determine if just the cameras are waterproof.

Sorry the main unit is not water-proof.

Thanks for the reply. For sure a feature request for the offload version in the future. 😉

I am adding the OEM Trail Cam onto mine but got this one and am going to experiment with putting the camera facing backwards under the JT so I can see under the front of the JT as sometimes I end up hitting rocks on the axle so it might help if I can see under the vehicle. Not sure it will work or not but it's worth a shot.
Did you ever get round to installing the camera under the Jeep?

This is exactly the configuration I'm interested in. I'm a bit surprised I can't find more people doing it this way? I don't have the OEM trailcam, but this angle seems even better for watching wheel placement when there isn't a spotter.

There are the obvious concerns of damage and dirt on the lens, but I'm sure this could be mitigated somewhat with careful placement.

Not yet, my JT has been in the shop for the last 3 months. I should be getting it back hopefully end of this week or next week and then I can get the OEM Front trail cam installed and move this camera under facing the front diff. It will probably take another month or so to get everything done if I get it back in the next week.

In case it might be useful, I found this Bronco that had the same idea and took pictures of the mount.
I've reached out in the thread for any updates too.

All the best with your Jeep and I hope it'll be back on the trail soon.

And by the way... the amount of flex on your rig is truly disgusting. That thing is a beast.

Thanks, it should be back better than ever soon. Mainly waiting on parts is what has taken so long. Thanks for the thread I will take a look at it. I think for mine I was going to mount it inside the front bumper to start with and see how that works. That should provide it with the protection and hopefully a good angle of the front axle but I haven't tried it out yet so we will once I get there.

Facing backwards that should work. It will have to be angled down fairly steep to get the front axle. I have mine on the trail ahead and it’s kind of a pain to determine where it needs to be angled. I’m trying to get a good capture of from where I cant see to about 1/2 a tire rotation from the hood for tire placement and all around nose up situations.

Luckily my bumper is pretty high compared to the front axle so that shouldn't be a problem. Also, not sure if you know but you can adjust the camera angle by swiping up and down on the rearview mirror and it will move the camera angle up and down to adjust the view which also helps.

So for those of you with the OEM trail cam, how helpful is it to have the second trail cam on the WolfBox? If it is helpful, where are you mounting it relative to the stock trail cam (assuming you have a winch & bumper)

You can change camera view by swiping up and down. On all three.

Not sure where people are mounting them but it does give you a different angle than the Mopar camera depending on where it’s done. On my wife’s 4Runner, I mounted it a bit lower and on a straighter angle for a different view. It works well and gives you a more complete picture of what ya can’t see over the nose.

mounting options for the rear of a camper shell? looking to mount directly into the sheet aluminum on the camper just below the brake light/logo. prefer bolt in rather than adhesive. prefer aluminum raters than 3d printed.

any off the shelf options for this location?

PS, I also have a 40" tire on my tire carrier. Any tips for install with that consideration? Goal is to minimize the amount of tire in the view and ideally see traffic, etc behind me. I already have the OEM rear camera re-located to the tire carrier below the tire so i'm looking for a different viewpoint to better see similar to a rear view mirror angle

Can I ask why you don’t want 3m adhesive with the provided bracket? But your choice. Your Jeep. If you want aluminum it should be easy to cut a piece of aluminum angle iron or square tube, paint it black to camouflage, and bolt it up. For me, I’d rather limit the number of holes in the topper. I have my camera on the rear with 3m and it’s never moved or even jiggled. Solid as a rock. I drilled a single tiny hole for the wire and that’s it.

figure i'm going to have to drill for the cable anyway, another 2 holes will simply be more reliable in the long run to have it bolted on rather than relying on the 3M adhesive. would rather not have to deal with an adhesive failure and camera hanging off the back of the camper in a few years.

can you share a photo of your set-up using the provided bracket and 3M adhesive?
