Cowl Vent Defense on Gladiators?

Hi Folks, I have lots and lots of tall trees which drop lots of leaves, pine needles, etc. on my Mohave which is parked outside. Is there a way to make the
Cowl Vent Intake for the HVAC fresh‑air intake near the bottom of the windshield better at keeping these droppings from getting through the cowl? Any ideas appreciated!

That vent should have a black screen on the underside

Screen's there but needles still pack in. I blow the cowl out every couple months or the drains back up and water finds the footwell.

Cover the cowl intake when you park it. Something simple like a towel or spare windshield shade should work, or go a step farther and use a car cover.
