For hard top Wrangler owners I am wondering how effective the tinted windows are in the heat of the summer. Is it worth the $500 option price? Does it help to cool down a Wrangler? Love to have your comments and opinions on this. Thanks

Where did you see this as a option or are you talking aftermarket tinting?

It’s on the Jeep build site as an option. And when you select that option on a Wrangler it costs $495.00

It's a factory option on wranglers. I'm sure they will tint gladiators as well.
I thought they just came tinted standard. I don't see it as an option anywhere on the build and price tool.

Got it thanks, must be standard on the Rubi, I see the option now if I build and price a sport.

Getting back to my original post is it worth the money? Does it help to cool down a Wrangler in the heat of the summer?

First thing I always do too, sometimes before I even get the vehicle home. I personally don't think it makes a drastic difference in interior temperature, but it does block more UV and save your seats, steering wheel leather, gauges, etc.

FWIW, on my Wrangler I had to get 20-25% tint on the front doors to make it match the factory tint on the rear doors and hard top. Technically that's illegal in my state, so be sure to check your state laws. I have my front windows rolled down most of the time anyhow.

Thanks guys. I think I’ll go ahead and pay the extra $500 to get the darker tinted windows from the factory.

I believe the dark tint option only tints the rear windows/back window.

Well that’s interesting. Will have to ask my dealership about this when ordering. Thanks for the heads up.

I normally tint 5% over the factory tint. I do it for the privacy and security and also the heat. Def’n helps a lot. I wouldn’t drive a vehicle if it didn’t have tint.
