Currently deployed and speaking with a few dealers in NC about picking up a Sport S with Max Tow when I get back this fall. I’m pretty excited for it if it all works out.

I have a TJ currently - it’s on 35s and has some added weight from tires, bumpers, axles, etc. It was my Lance Corporal gift to myself in 2007 and I go nowhere without it. I towed it previously across the country (California to NC) with the assistance of my 2008 Ram 2500 with a 6.7 and obviously had no issues towing and getting pretty good MPG.

My expectations are not set as high for towing the TJ with a JT - I’m well aware that the JT is rated far lower than my Cummins was. I don’t have a curb weight for my TJ at the moment.

Is anyone else towing a Jeep on a standard car hauling trailer? I have a 16’ BigTex (not pictured) that works great for moving the Jeep around, just wanted to see if anyone else has been pulling their other Jeep around and what their experiences have been.

Forgot to mention - I sold the Ram so using it to tow again is not an option lol

You shouldn’t have any issues towing your other Jeep as long as you get a tow controller.

My older son is currently in the Army and getting ready for his second deployment.
If you need any help stateside please let me know and i’ll Be glad to help..and I mean it.

I’m interested too. In September (I hope) I’ll be getting my Gator JT with max tow. Then I’ll tow my lifted TJ to Fort Benning to give to my son where he’ll be in training. My gift to him for getting his butter bar.

Yeah I’m currently looking into brake controllers. I’m hoping the wider axles make for a steady ride as I’m probably doing a move from NC back to California sometime in the new year. I’m wrapping up my fourth deployment here in a couple months.

Well that’s a hell of a gift! Congrats to your son. Sometimes I wish I went the officer route, but my 14 enlisted years has been decent enough for me.

I’ll forward your congrats, and I mean that. He gets the whole rig trailer and all. I’m wondering if I try to tow them both on a 16’ trailer or play it safe and make two 1000 mile round trips with a car hauler. Maybe the answer will appear in this thread someday.

If you tow first you let me know. If I tow first I’ll let you know.

Once I get back to the States and settle in to a Gladiator I may make a thread documenting my travels.

I also have a TJ... don’t expect to be towing it with my JT, (will be towing my (2) Horse Featherlite)... But you don’t need a trailer to tow a TJ, just pull it with a Towbar like all the RV’s do! ;{

Yeah, I know you don't need a trailer. But I like the idea of having a trailer when I move across the country, from coast to coast, which the Marine Corps will have me doing for the third time now lol

I pull my TJ behind my JKUR with a tow bar and it does fine. My JKUR rated towing capacity is much lower than the JTs is advertised as. It still towed mt TJ from Kansas city out to Colorado springs without any issues and my TJ has quite a bit of armor on it so its a bit heavier that stock form.
