My dealer up here in Vancouver Canada is saying they are being told Gobi color is doubtful for the rest of this year. Anyone else hearing this?

I'm hoping they're just clueless like most dealers are. I need my Gator!

That seems unlikely to me. It isn't a hard color to paint. I can see it being delayed since they have delayed hydro but I'm sure we will see it soon.

I am not familiar with the paint process, but what would be potential 2 week delay with the hydro blue? Would it be because of the pearl? Is there only a couple paint areas? I am assuming they still make the other colors, so if they start blue up would something like one of the silvers have to stop for a while? Would they skip blue and go to gobi for any reason? I hate asking all this, makes me sound so stupid, but I really am curious since I have no idea how a factory operates and think it's pretty fascinating reading some of the post about the ordering and such. Would love to one day tour a facility and get a good understanding.

and yes....deep down I also want to know because I am waiting for Gator :/

No one but the Jeep folks really know. I ordered a Granite Launch Edition. Pretty standard color available on all Jeep/RAM vehicles. For some reason, Jeep kept telling us for months that they were having problems getting the paint to match (supposedly the tops, which are outsourced). Granite LEs were ordered back in April, and supposed to start production 7/8 per the paint schedule. They may finally start painting them in the next week or so. We are hopeful, but it's been 20 weeks since we ordered and are still waiting to see ours start production (so hard to hear people complaining of a few day or week delay in start of a certain color).

If you want to get a feel for how Jeeps are built, you can watch this video of the Wrangler production.

Thanks Mike! Appreciate the video and hope your Gladiator ships soon. Guess LE and gator folks are kinda in the same boat. We both get to watch everybody else enjoy the vehicle while we wait on sidelines for a bit. LEs just have the advantage of at least being ordered already. I know it's not much of a bright side, but it's a positive!

Where'd the table from the OP in this thread come from? I just got off the phone with my dealer and they said the last "they heard" Hydro Blue Pearl won't be available to ORDER until October or November. I called Jeep directly, and they said I have to talk to the dealer about availability.

This came from FCA directly, and was pretty close until Hydro delays. I'm thinking whatever production spot hydro was going to take up was replaced by GCM LE's that were delayed forever, as those folks look to be getting their orders moving a bit quicker now.

Granite Crystal & Sting Gray order banks both opened about 2 weeks before the Job 1 dates (first build date, not when orders can be placed). First builds seemed to be pretty close to the Job 1 dates.

Things have kinda gone to hell since then.
  • Granite Crystal LE was suppose to start 7/8 (on orders from April 3 & 4). They MAY start next week (~2 months late). So started seeing delays in that schedule here.
  • Punk'N orders started a few days after the Job 1 date. Not sure of actual production start date, but from forum posts those orders didn't start until the first week or two in August, so ~3 weeks late there.
  • Hydro Blue still not available to order, 2 weeks after Job 1 date.
EDIT: Just heard from someone on the production floor. They have yet to see any Hydro Blue come down the line (even test mules). May be a while.
