Jeep Gladiator RR Snorkel due to release in December. Snork

Their marketing director said it's due in Dec. Guess I know what I'm getting for Christmas. I loved my JK snorkel.

I have never needed a snorkel but they just look so cool to me. Probably useless to me but knowing the functionality is available should be worth some piece of mind right?

The best benefit is clean air. Trail riding kicks up alot of dust. That dust circulates the engine bay and ends up clogging the filter. Before I put mine on I was cleaning the air filter every trip and it was filthy. Afterwards I went several years not needing to clean it.

Cold air intakes add intake noise and lighten the wallet not much more.

At the minimum I recommend a good dry filter (oiled ones let to much by) I've had long trips where it was super dusty and I'd pull it and clean it when we camped for the night. When I went snorkel I checked it the same time a couple of my buddies who routinely rode with me did. Mine was ALOT cleaner than theirs and we had been swapping out the lead all trip so it wasnt cause I was out front. Cleaner air up high.

yeah...i ordered a dry CAI. It's currently on pre-order though, and with this coming in a few months, thinking real hard about cancelling it and waiting for this!

Truthfully a snorkel is the only real cold air. Some take air from at or near the hood lip but it's still warmer than ambient especially at low speed.

I just cancelled. Had the Volant 177366 Powercore Cold Air Intake on order. supposedly it pulls from the fender and has a dry, maintenance free filter. either way. Really like this RR snorkel setup wayyyy better. (sorry for the text formatting, it changed when i copy/pasted )

Ha no worries. Just highlight and hit that goofy black and white rectangle next to the wrench. That's the clear formating button.

I have never thought of the snorkel as a clean air source but I can see some logic in the thought. Well I guess that is enough of a justifiable reason to get something I think looks cool! Now I have to wait until december.

Look at the guys running across the deserts of Australia. Everyone is running a snorkel. Not for water mate as they'd say

Would that be true for just the low mount one, too?

Old propeller driven airplanes in some cases would come with a "desert kit" that moves the air intake scoop to the top of the cowling instead of below for exactly this reason.

I flew on a Beaver on floats in BC that had a desert kit on it. How a desert kit ended up on a plane on floats is unknown to me. The same people had another Beaver with a conventional under cowl air intake scoop.

I only ran the low mount a few times on the JK. Can't really comment on its effectiveness.
