Their marketing director said it's due in Dec. Guess I know what I'm getting for Christmas. I loved my JK snorkel.
Damn, that is a good looking snorkel. I don't have a need for one, but aesthetically I'm all in depending on price point of it.

Now I have heard that there is a small benefit as a ram air system as well. Anyone have first hand knowledge if it appears the engine runs better with a snorkel system?

Theoretically it is a colder air practically speaking it is minimal difference.

A buddy and I had the bluetooth obd readers and one of the things you can track is intake air temp. We both monitored it on one trip and the consensus was that it didnt matter. The intake tube is still pretty long and in the engine bay. His with factory air box and mine with high mount snorkel were never more than a couple degrees different. I imagine this might change if longer periods of wide open throttle are seen as the air is moving faster and may not get heat soaked in the engine bay as quickly.

But realistically it's a jeep and the time spent at WOT are so infrequent that minimal gains at the high end wont ever be felt especially if you havent tuned the engine to optimize the fuel map for the extra air.

Excellent answer, thank you!

That looks so good, and is so well thought out, that it's hard to believe it's a Rugged Ridge product.

Opinions certainly vary on all these wiz bangs. What it all comes down too is only your opinion matters, you are the person writing the check. If you like it get it. Enjoy!

I have a snorkel on my 4x4 Sprinter. A side benefit is that they keep critters out of the air box and gave the Sprinter more grunt.

I would be interested to see a matching bracket on the other side of the cowl that housed an air pump connection - something in line with what the wayout concept mounted on the side of the fender.

I've got a RR snorkel on my JKU, full height but I have a pre-filter on top instead of the open scoop. I've only cleaned my air filter 3 or 4 times in the last 4.5 years. No bugs, leaves, sticks, candy wrappers, etc. in the airbox. Glad to see RR is already working on one for the Gladdy, I'll be buying one for sure!
