Well the dealer you buy the warranty from doesn’t get involved some central/mopar?/3rd party does, as I understood it. But maybe it’s was BS, I don’t know. Bottom line when your sitting there signing the final papers after 8 hours of hell trying to purchase a vehicle your best defense is to have all the facts with you and all the decisions like this made before you go into the paper signing room.

The things we do to save money.... at least I got mine $10k under MSRP....:)

The two linked here seem to be reselling the same product - Mopar Maximum Care. So that being the case I’d imagine it can’t matter what dealer you go to. Right that’s the point of the Mopar warranty - any fca dealership.

Opinions...here is mine.
If you know for a fact that you are going to keep the vehicle longer than the manufacturers warranty it comes with, absolutely get extended.
BUT, here in Canada, you don't have to buy the extended warranty at the time of purchase.
Anytime up until, but before, your basic 3 yr warranty expires you can then opt and pay for an extended warranty from FCA.
As well, warranty pricing is negotiable, more so at time of purchase than after.
The beauty of waiting is, maybe after a year or two, you decide you no longer want to keep the vehicle. So you didn't unnecessarily spend the money on something you didn't even use.
Lots of different plans are available as well.
My wife who works at a Jeep dealer, bought a used 300C with a gold plan extended warranty.
Great selling feature for a used vehicle.
Included was no transfer fee, free oil changes, tire rotation, powertrain coverage, but not the
Items your basic 3 year warranty will cover. O yeah, it did not include towing, when she would get stuck in our alley 6 times a year in the winter. That's why she loves her JK.:like:
Lastly, some mods can affect your warranty, depending how they relate to the issue.
For example, if you put a lift and oversized tires on, don't count on suspension components being covered. Exhaust mods can affect engine warranty, but usually not if it's just a muffler
behind the cat, your okay. Screw with the O2 sensors forward, don't count on coverage.

While on the phone with my Geico insurance rep, when I was setting my JT up with insurance. He asked me if I wanted a 6yr warranty on anything mechanical for the JT. I asked how much extra on my Insurance. $7 a month more. Sold.

I have a 2015 JKU with 68k miles. I got the lifetime maxcare warranty. I just started getting a horrible rattle/sustained tick (assuming lifter tick). The factory warranty would have expired in 3 months. Ill be bringing in the jeep for service next month when im off work. In my opinion if this thing needs a new cylinder head than Im happy I got the warranty!

First year of the JT, plus I am trading in my 7yr old GC with 140k+ miles on it... I am going for an extended warranty. They have always paid off for me (but I keep vehicle for a long time),

Which warranty are you going with? I have been thinking about getting one, but not sure what to go with, I am thinking the Mopar 8 year one right now.

For the way I drive, keep vehicles - I think the best price point is 7yrs/125k mi with a $100 deductible.

Again, that is really based around me. I read somewhere else on the forum someone said if you plan to keep it out of the base warranty, buy and extra duration. I agree with that. It is further amplified by a first year release. I don't want to argue between recall and issue. It's under warranty - Fix it! That is my mentality.

I paid $800 for my Honda Element's extended coverage. Never used it. Could use it now, but the car is about 15 years old now

I am going to look more into the extended warranties. But calling the folks at Mopar was less than productive.

First, they said they can only offer 125k miles of coverage, despite their published materials saying 150k miles. Geico only has their policy for 7 years, but unlimited miles.
https://www.mopar.com/content/dam/mopar/pdf/mvp/2019-05 MVP Maximum Care Plans SS.pdf

Second, they said the only thing that they cover that a plan like the Mechanical Breakdown Insurance from Geico doesnt is the shocks and that Mopar will replace with Mopar parts while Geico will replace with whatever. Mopar policy considers shocks as a non-wear/tear item, Geico considers them wear/tear.

Third, they quoted me something like $3600 for the policy. Over 8 years that is $37 a month. I only pay about $7-10/mo for coverage with Geico. Mopar made a big deal about paying a $100 deductible vs Geico's $250. Yah....not a huge concern.

Fourth, Geico said the only things they don't cover are fluids, filters, brakes, and wear/tear items like shocks. That is it. They don't have a list of "covered items". They treat claims for repairs under their MBI the same as repairs due to a collision. I have that in writing. Mopar has this nice little booklet, which I need to read through and see if they list their "5000 parts". Disclaimer: I found this pdf by searching on Bing. I don't see an email option for Mopar's coverage for questions. Calling is the only way and I'll do that later to see if they can send me some documents.

Here is verbatim what I received for my new JT:

"Your price from me for the Mopar Max Care $100 deductible 7 years from ‘in service’ date or to 125K miles is $2185 and the $200 deductible is $2015."

Over 7 years I'll spend at most $840 in premiums on the Geico coverage. Do shocks really cost over $1000? If so, glad I snagged a takeoff set from another Sport for $50 :)

To share all of the information I am getting on Mopar MAX CARE Warranties, Tom Winkels seems to have the best pricing. Note, this is based on living in SC and having 10 mi on my Gladiator at purchase. Hope this helps

BTW - Tom's direct line is (269) 385-1116. Seems like a stand up guy.

Edited: Made the table more readable. Thank you Excel!

For what it's worth, 2 dealers told me the mileage is irrelevant until you get to 36,000 miles. I assume at that point you are buying an extended warranty for a used vehicle
