I had similar experiences, as I picked mine up in OKC then turned around and drove 250 miles back to DFW then two days later 450 miles home. Though I've found mine holds close to the set speed very well and the ACC is very smooth. My steering is fairly loose but this is my first Jeep so I just figured that's what it is, though it doesn't really bother me until l I get back in my Honda where I jerk it back and forth all over the road until I readjust.

Also not sure if anyone has noticed, but if you hold the button down it starts jumping ±5 increments.

As the man said - yea, and I love it. That's one way I knew my analog speedometer was off, that and displaying the speed digitally in the cluster - the two disagreed.

This cruise is far better than my Chevy was - which seemed to be a "we'll get close to what you asked for, but it may vary a lot" cruise control.

The ACC worked great. I could set the distance I wanted and it responded very well. Come up on some big trucks going slower but there was a solid line of traffic to the left with no space to get over and around, the cruise kept me a steady distance from the truck and as soon as I got over to the other lane it resumed speed - when some idiot cut right in front of me it responded (as did I LOL)
On my wife’s Volvo XC 40, ACC is a bit more than the Jeep. IE it will drive itself, It has an option to adjust how close you follow. Turn it on it is at the time distance chosen previously, you can then adjust it to follow further back or closer. I think there are 6 different following distances. Does the Jeep, have something like this. On my two test drives I don’t think either one had it.

The Jeep has four distance follow settings if you get one optioned with ACC.

I ordered all of the nanny bits, because I have grown to appreciate them. I would have ordered the self driving function if it existed. I love the 360 degree cameras on the Volvo when parking, I ordered a Rubicon, just to have that trail camera I will probably use it for parking. These tech bits make daily life easier and better.

I love to drive, but there are times when it is nice to have a butler doing the basics for you and keep everyone safe.

Agree completely. After getting spoiled with the ACC and LED headlights on my Honda there was no chance I wasn't getting them on the JT. LKAS would have been nice but they would have to have put a completely different steering system in it. Though, the JL/JT has got to be the newest vehicle design on the market still using hydraulic power steering.

Yes. I set it to medium to begin with default, then can adjust it. I found at first it was leaving too much space for the speed and others were squeezing in - but aside from that, it was too much distance just because. One push of the lower button and it brought me a bit closer. Another push and closer still. I could hit the other and it would back me off. I don't know the number of "distances" or selections but it did a great job and was spot-on. I was using a point on the hood as a "sight" and watched and it really never deviated from that distance. As soon as I pushed a button to get closer you could feel it move forward. My wife and I both judged it as excellent.
She wants me to show her how to use it on her Grand Cherokee now that she knows about it (I'm sure a 2018 should have it - the dealer said according to her VIN it should)

The JT will park itself - parallel or angle parking. I've not used it because parallel parking is rare around here, but in the city there are places it could be handy.

That's a first I've heard of that. Not sure how it'd work since it lacks the ability to turn the steering wheel itself.

My dealer sent me a link to the video for the JT parking feature - I found the one for our GC - he sent my wife a link to the FCA video of this as she didn't know it would do this either.
I'll dig for the link he sent me on the JT but here's one I found for the 2018 GC - he said they park exactly the same way, parallel or angle.
He showed me the online FCA demo video for the JT parking as I doubted him when he told me it could do it.
Then I told him about the grand cherokee my wife had - he asked me for her GC VIN, and he plugged that into the FCA site and came up with a video for that, too - this is not that video, but shows what they'll do.

MAYBE he was wrong - I'll have to find the links he sent me - but he showed the thing parking itself. Unless he screwed up and chose the wrong model......

They both have ParkSense but I believe on the JT it is just sensors in the back bumper that beep at you when you get close to backing in to things or if you have blind spot monitoring beep at you if a vehicle is approaching from the side while backing up. For self parking I don't see how it would work without parking sensors also on the front and electric power steering. Feel free to prove me wrong because I'd love to find out that my Jeep has this feature.

First I have to prove me correct, and if I can't do that, I guess I have proven the dealer wrong! LOL
One thing I'll do is compare BUTTONS on the dang things - what buttons does her Grand Cherokee have that mine does not and go from there. And dig through the text messages he sent. I thought he sent email but it must have been text.
I won't try to argue the point until I go back - and it's possible he was wrong and if so, that makes me wrong, too.....

The Volvo will completely park itself with you working the brakes. That said, it is slow to find the spot and it is so slow parking that I just take over. It will do it, but not to my satisfaction from a quickness point of view. Parking when people are behind you is something you need to do quickly. The cameras help a lot with that the self parking feature not so much. The 360 degree camera showing all of the bits getting close to something is the bomb. That might be better than the self driving features, but those are awesome too when you are on the interstate.
