Hey all - after months of trying to get a good aftermarket bumper I like, I've decided to go back to the OEM steel bumper and put a winch in there.

Only thing I'm hung up on is the lack of D Ring loops for closed circuit winching. The only solution I've found (besides the Warn that deletes your skid plate) is the Maximus-3 D-Ring Loops. It does require some mild cutting of the bumper/skid but doesn't look too invasive. The loops require their winch plate also which seems to be pretty solid at 1/4" steel and good reviews.

Anyone running these and can you share your experiences?

Thanks!

I have purchased these but yet to install them. I am debating on putting them on which the Orem stell bumper and current Mopar mount, or selling it all and going with ave’s bumper. They are built well.

Cool - I went ahead and ordered them too. I may not mount the lower d-ring mounts right away but need to get this bumper I'm not keeping off the truck and returned so hopefully will come in by this weekend...

I saw a pic on this forum that someone posted and I wasn't sure what they were - now I know.

This looks to be a good product and idea.

I assume this is the pic installed - it's from their webpage. And they mention having to cut the bumper but as far as I can tell it's not the bumper that gets cut it's the under-bumper skidplate. Can anyone confirm this?

Do they provide installation instructions before purchase so you can see what's involved? I didn't see them on their page.

So their site is a little confusing. There are two products—the one pictured is the tow brackets (I think you could also use these for d rings) and the attach to the outer frame rails.

The other choice are D Ring brackets that bolt directly to the Maximus-3 winch plate.

I chose the latter option.

So very long story but I’ve spent most of the last two days trying to get mine installed and still not done. Apparently I’ve done everything in the wrong order (must mount electronics in winch before mounting on the plate, then wire to truck, cut the bumper then install bumper, something like that).

I also spent a good amount of time just getting the winch plate installed. There is interference with a weld on the Jeep frame on the passenger side that I had to bevel the plate slightly with and angle grinder to get the holes to line up. The fix took all of 5 minutes To grind and repaint, but a lot longer to figure out the interference points before the fix.

The instructions are pretty good however they appear to be outdated and for their V1 plate and a different steel bumper.

The current steel bumper does not have a flat edge like shown in the instructions so the origins for measuring the 80mm reference point is unknown. I mounted the bumper up and held the d ring mounts underneath and sighted it in and it also appears the recommended width is not correct in the instructions. From my eyeball perspective it looks like the centerline for the d rings line up with the fog light wiring harness holes. I’m going to contact them this week and clarify.

So now I’ll have to wait a few more weeks to get this project done. Gotta take the bumper off to take off the winch to install the electronics box so won’t do that until the d ring install is better understood.

I haven’t confirmed yet but I’m hopeful the skid plat will not require cutting but won’t know until I get all of the above done first...

@Maximus-3 just realized you’re a forum member. Can you advise on the above?

Ok so I got it all installed! I took the bumper and winch off and measured the distance between d ring loop mounts and found it to be 413mm (instructions say 424). This lines up very close to the wiring harnesses holes in the tabs of the bumper as I suspected before. I measured and measured and measured and measured and made sure it all made sense and lined up square. Finally I took the leap and cut the bumper per the instructions and it worked out great!

I did have to loosen the bottom skid pate mounts and rock them forward as much as possible due to extra 1/4” pushing the bumper forward but it did fit without any cutting on the skid plate. Here are the photos:

We have been working with @Maximus-3 quite a bit the last couple months, and I’ll ask the team about doing and install and review of possibly both of these.

About to finalize the install video of their new Roof Rack. Which will be available on our Gladiator Gang YouTube Channel.

I've been very happy with the setup so far. I ended up putting on the Maximus-3 stealth plate holder and the Stinger as well. Can't wait to get thru this lockdown season and on the trails!
