I like that bumper, I’m concerned about how close it is to the fender. I have a rubicon and assume there will be more space. Do you have any clearance issues with the fenders?

There is probably a 1/2 inch clearance.. it’s a little easier to see in the new picture.. I think it fits just right... and you are right... with the rubicon you should have more room because your fenders sit higher.

I went inexpensive for my entire build. Wanted something that would not rust this time. So, I came across this lil fella and threw on a Smitty 9500. Super easy install. Everything lined up, bolted in, and winch fit in nicely. Bumper has lights, so I just used the stock fog lights wiring and became plug n play.

You got this bumper did it come with instructions on how to install or did you just went along as you go, I'm really curious about this one as I'm always afraid to purchase a big item and it not fit correctly also did it fit well with the skid plate I have sport s if there is a significant difference

I don't think I even looked at the instructions. It went on that easy. Removed all the aero stuff, unplugged the stock fogs at the frame, removed bolts of stock bumper, pulled it off. Attached winch to new bumper, slid the bumper on, and bolted right in. Easy. Only tricky part was wiring the new lights in the new bumper, to the stock fog plug, so I could use the stock fog light switch. Just take your time and enjoy wrenching and modding

Did you make a spacer to move the bumper out for clearance?

Keeping the red tow hooks took up close to an inch of spacing, and then for the additional inch I used two pieces of 1/2" thick solid stock. I guess I would have preferred something 1 inch thick, but my local steel place didn't have that in their scrap pile. Layering all that spacing (tow hooks, 2 layers of 1/2 inch, then the D-ring mounts) could affect strength, but I also upgraded to 1/2" grade 8 bolts. Cascading effects: Bigger bolts means the nuts welded to the back of the fog light mounts need to be removed & the fog lights will be recessed 2" further back in the bumper. They still throw light out the front and I don't get much use from fog lights in general anyway, so they'll stay put.

For the winch mount, I cut the front out of the RR mount, and then slid in a piece of a universal 8274 mount that stuck out the extra 2 inches & welded and bolted the two together. I considered spacing the entire RR mount out 2 inches, but there are a couple mounting bolt holes on the side that would require some kind of bracket. I felt like it would be stronger to keep the RR mount bolted up as designed and use the universal mount to bring the winch forward.

There is a little bit of a return in the bumper metal above the fairlead opening that needs to come off so it fits tighter to your mount. The winch line opening in the 8274 mount was offset vertically from the bumper cover opening. Since something had to be cut anyway I opened up the cosmetic part of the bumper to slide over the hawse fairlead & bolted the fairlead directly to the winch mount. Dry fit everything, measure, mock up with wood blocking or scrap thin walled tubing to make sure of the spacing.

It would have been much easier to buy a different winch, but hey its an 8274, the Chuck Norris of winches. It doesn't pull you out of the mud; it pulls drier ground to you! Good luck with your project.

This is incredibly helpful. You've confirmed my assumption of what you did with the RR mount. I agree with your assessment to keep the rear attachment, particularly for such a heavy winch. Opening the fairlead opening is something that hadn't occurred to me. I've got some weeks to go before I would install, as I am just getting started on and will take my time with the 8274 rebuild.

Did you have any problems with the warranty since i think you have to cut/trim the tusks that are in the way,can you please give me some info regarding the warranty cause im really am considering on buy that bumper but yeah man :d

well got the Smittybilt Stryker front bumper installed! What a PIA due to horrible instructions but finally got it. Also installed the Badland Apex 12k winch. Super tight fit.

Now just to decide if I'm going to powder coat it to match body color (billet) and if I'm gonna run it as a stubby or with end caps

I really like that bumper. Couple of questions:

1) Did you have the LED light package? I’ve heard the OEM LED lights don’t work with the Stryker.

2) Do you have the forward collision warning set up? I’m curious if the bull bar is in line of sight to the front collision cameras...

1) The fog lights worked/fit without any issue.
2) I don’t have the trail camera or collision warning so not sure. I’m sure it blocks it to a certain extent but if you’ve seen other camera views of bumpers with bars, they aren’t blocked that bad.

- my biggest complaint were the instructions and all the extra hardware. There are a couple good YT videos on install though

I just got my reply from Smittybilt, they seemed to indicate the Stryker wouldn’t work for me:

The LED lights will not fit onto the Stryker bumper. The Stryker's bull bar will interfere with forward collision sensor.
