I ordered a Rubicon that will come in with the Polished Alum wheels and 285/70 MTs. I want to have dealer add wheels and 35s prior to purchase. Anyone done this and received credit for wheels/tires prior to purchase? If not, any idea what the going price is for low/no milage tires off new JT?

Look in the members market place under wheels.

Looks like a launch wheel sets are being sold for 1200-1500.

black and and brushed upgraded Rubi rims 1000-1200. Seen a few sets at 800

gray Rubi rims 1200 if your lucky to as low as 700

this is mostly w tpms ready to go ... w out tpms def a harder sell... someone would have to buy the tpms then reinstall. When I was looking I didn’t even consider sets were the tpms was removed.

I ended up picking up some 19 rubi moab all back rims for 500 that came w some Michelin’s and a 5th matching spare. Sold the Michelin’s for 250, sold my sport take offs for 500, bought new warrantied 285/75r17s for around 1100. So my new set up cost me 850, have tpms sensors and falken warranty and road hAzard.

Anything with the dealer you WONT come on top money wise. If you have the money and don’t feel like messing w it, get the dealer to do it.

My dealer gave me $1100 for the 4 wheels 5 tires off my Rubi, I kept the steel spare rim and bought 5 tires from them. And 4 Method wheels. They matched Tirerack pricing so I was actually surprised to get a reasonable deal through them. Was nice to pick up the vehicle lifted and sitting on the new wheels so dealer was accountable for the whole mechanical suspension/handling package.

If you do it before you take delivery most dealers will give full credit on them. With that said, only if you purchase the tires and wheels from said dealership. I would have done it with mine but I wanted to keep the wheels and go to 35's and I didn't feel like waiting for the 35's to come in. I ended up selling the Bridgestone A/T's that came on it for $400.

At least at Hendricks and Lake Norman DJR around my area you can do it.

When we do our builds for the ford dealership we give pennies on the dollar for peoples take offs if they want a credit, we always just tell them they're better off taking them and selling them privately. It's such a hassle for us to store them all and post them online, then deal with all the tire kickers calling and texting. Plus being a dealership we then have the liability of those wheels and tires because we sold them to the customer as the dealership. For all these reasons its almost always better to just sell them privately. The only thing you have going for you is since its an "upgraded" wheel, they may just slap them on a sport and charge for them

All you can do is ask. If you haven't taken delivery yet, the two dealerships around here will just slap the ones off yours on another Jeep on the lot. I didn't have a issue with my last jeep other than the dealer markup on the 35's was pretty substantial, but they took the 32's off and slapped 35's on it and gave me full credit for the tires. I kept the stock wheels on it at the time as well.

Is that the price of just wheels and sensors, or wheels, tires, and TPMS sensors?

I have the stock Falken WP M/T 285/70r17's on the metallic gray Rubicon wheels with TPMS sensors still installed sitting in my storage unit that i pulled off my JTR at 300 miles on the odometer... Just wondering what you could get for them. Those wheels are over $300 each from Mopar, and those tires in that size are about $1,000 a set. Sensors are $150-200 a set (4)...

I also used my stock rims and got the dealership to put in the 2” lift and had them install 35” duratracs but they didn’t want my stock tires but I sold them for $400 also.

That's pretty much with everything, tires, wheels and on some cases tire sensors as well. Around here you can find some take offs with tires and wheels for between $800-$1000. Tires are so much because of the warranties, once they are mounted they are worth about Half of what they were originally.

I got the rubicon falken wildpeaks at Walmart and quadratec copies of the rubicon wheels for like $300 a tire, dealer wanted $750+ and was only going to give like $100 for my old wheels and tires. When the world gets back to normal I’m putting them on Craigslist.

When selling some takeoff Rubicon tires any difference between the AT and the MT value wise ?
I’m going to be ordering my Rubicon , what tires might be worth a little more or easier to sell, any suggestions

Both are pretty much the same and about as easy to sell as the other. No matter which ones you get be prepared to take about 3-5 hundred dollar hit on the tires. People aren't going to pay no where close to asking price. The Bridgestone A/Ts on mine were right at $800 a set and I only got $400 for them.

So, where to begin?

First of all, the dealer mark up on wheels, tires and the labor to put it all together is typically outrageous. If you have one that is being reasonable, fantastic. You are always better off buying the wheels and tire and then going to a chain like Discount Tires and having them mount/balance them. If you are not comfortable then installing them yourself, they can also swap them out. Then sell your take offs on the open market, but feel lucky if you get 75% of the original cost. Value can only be determined by the market and what someone is willing to pay. You can even purchase your wheels and ask DT to match or beat the online price for tires, have everything shipped to DT and when they are ready go pick them up or have them installed.

My rip off dealer tried to charge me $10k for wheels and tires mounted, balanced and installed and I ended up paying $5k for a better wheel. I then sold the 4 upgraded Rubicon wheels/tires that came on the truck for $1,200 (still have the spare), which is a fraction of the dealer retail price.

However you proceed, best of luck and don’t let them play the various margins against you.
