I know this subject has been discussed a million times and I've probably ready 25 different threads, but am still stuck. I'm planning to get a Rubicon and add 35s with no lift for at least the short term (looking at Daystar 3/4 inch lift). Currently I have KO2s (275/70/17, E load) on my 4Runner and love them, but just think MTs look better on a Gladiator, so that's purely aesthetic. I've had numerous BFGs over the years and love them. I've also read that the narrower 11.5" might have a little better road manners than the 12.5" wide and the C rating wont be quite as rough on the road. I have a 1 mile commute to work, so road comfort isn't a major factor. Wife's comfy SUV is for road trips and mine is for utility and play.

Here's currently where I sit:

1. BFG KM3: 35x12.5, Load Range: E, 74.4 lbs

2. Nitto Trail Grappler: 35x11.5, Load Range: C, 72.6 lbs

3. BFG KO2: 35x12.5, Load Range E, 66.5 lbs

Have you considered the Kenda Klever 35x10.5 or do you strictly want a wide 11.5/12.5? With the Kendas you can keep them on the stock rims. They're supposed to be load range D and weigh 67.

315/70/17 Load range C Bfg's are worth a look at also. They are not to heavy, look aggressive & ride great.

Thanks. I really haven't looked into that much. Haven't really considered anything narrower than the 11.5". I do like the idea of a load range D and a little lighter though.

I am considering these tires for my build on a wheel that is 17x8.5 with 5.2 inch backspacing and +10 offset. I ordered a Sport S with Max tow......would this combination of tire and wheel stick out too far? Sorry if this is a dumb question....still new to all of this!

I have 37 inch milestar Patagonia MT tires and they ride great and weigh less than other 37 inch tires you might take a look at their 35 inch tires

See thread on JL forum where KO2s are prone to weak sidewall and running on the small side.
See my thread on tires chipping on people not liking Nitto and Falken not being good on rocks

Kumho M/T KL71 37x13.5r20 84lbs $333
Kumho M/T KL71 35x12.5r17 67lbs $255
Kumho MT71 35x12.5r17 77lbs $225
Kenda Klever 35x10.5r17 67lbs $175

It's strange how Discount Tire Direct doesn't offer the Kendas. I'd rather buy from them than Walmart. I bought all my tires from DTD.

I suggest you look at the Yokohama Geolandar M/T G003. I personally run a 287/75-17 which is a 34x11 vs the 34.5" of a "35". 63 lbs in my size or 70 lbs for the 35x12.5. Mine were like $250 a tire from Simple Tire and after 8k miles I'm still at 15-16 32nd's

A 35" is taller than a 285/75 which with different brands could be 34, 33.9, 33.8 etc. I don't know where you got 287/75. And I'd like to see an actual measurement of your 285/75r17 under load. They won't be 34" tall. Put a level on top of the tires then measure in between.

Measured 33.25" at 34 psig on the Jeep. From what I've seen the 35's measure just under 34 under load.
