Are the stock shocks good enough for the Evo's
Not if you want the ride improved. If your budget is 1500 I’d go for the mopar or jks and then add on the rest of the parts to make them complete as budget allowed

I just pointed out that Alabama would recommend them... & right on queue he did. As a bang for buck shopper I dont like Evo.
You recommend Clayton in almost every thread, so what's the difference? No need to start shooting at each other's feet, we're all in the same boat...

Yea i'll look into the Evo's too. I dont want to spend more than 1500 but if a little more then thats fine.
Yes, but those are WAAAAAAY overpriced!!! You can look locally (most people use Facebook marketplace) and can find local, or semi-local, Rubicon takeoff suspension with shocks for less than $300 total. You might be able to get the shocks for $150-200.

Yes. Everyone who has upgraded from their non-Rubicon model to the Rubicon factory shocks has talked about how much of an upgrade the shocks alone are. So, yes, for a cheap upgrade, yes. You can always save up and go with something better/bigger later, if you wanted to.

Iron rock off road’s 2in spacer kit or AEV 3in spacer Kit. Inexpensive and good quality. Why spend $1,500 if you dont have to

No shooting at anyone's feet.. Your just quite predictable about it is all.

Also I don't really recommend Clayton or anything else. I just compare & explain differences.

Alabama Mud Machine needed to add more A's to WAAAAAAY in this.. For reference I just sold all 4 along with the springs from a Rubicon for 150 total. That seller is on some mighty fine narcotics he has to charge those prices to supply.

As for the shocks I am one of the few that has already actually upgraded from the Stock shocks (I have a Sport S w/ Max Tow) to the Rubicon Take off's & then to a full blown suspension with Fox 2.0's. Hands down its worth it to go from the stockers to the Rubi shocks... But I wouldn't bother if your already doing the rest of a real suspension. You will need extensions to make use of the rest of the suspension & when you add the extensions to the cost of the Rubi take off's your only a couple hundred off from getting legitimately better shocks that wont be holding you back.

Hi,

I am putting the down payment tomorrow and picking up a Sport S Sting Gray next Monday. This will be my first lift-able truck. I have a forester too but, I just through on 2" spacers.

I want to do a 2.5 or 3" lift or whatever would fit 35s with no rubbing issues. This will be used as a daily shop truck as well as a weekend adventurer. I don't plan on doing any heavy rock crawling, but maybe in the future.

The Jeep will be coming with the Max Tow package, but even after reading about Dana 44, wider axles, gearing ratios, and watching a bunch of Youtube videos, I still have no idea what that all means. I come from a bagged stance community. This is all new to me. If you're wondering why I went for a Gladiator. Well... I want a Jeep and I need a truck for work. This is perfect!

I've searched around different sites that carry lift kits, but I don't know whats a brand to stay away from and whats quality but still affordable. I don't want to run a leveling kit again. Shock and spring combo is probably the way to go.

Need your guys' help. Thanks in advance

I have the EXACT same truck.....Sting Gray Max tow. From what everyone has told me....if you can find Rubicon "take-off's", swap out your front springs and shocks and add a 3/4" spacer.....that will get you pretty close to level. The rear springs (again from what I'm told) on the Max Tow, are progressive rate springs which are probably better than the Rubicons. That should give you plenty of room for 35's.....but you may have to remove the "aero fenders" (those stupid plastic thingy's between the front bumper and the fenders)......I'm hoping this is all good info.....cause that's the exact setup i'm lookin for !

The stock Rubicon shocks are Fox 2.0 shocks...

And the Evo lift comes with the extension brackets for the stock shocks.

Under the hood they may be... But they absolutely DO NOT PERFORM like the same shocks. The amount of bounce is night & day different.

Also keep in mind as you recommend the Evo 2.5 which provides much more lift then the Mopar lift your recommending shocks that even Mopar says aren't long enough for the shorter Mopar Lift.

Evo supplies the brackets in the kit... I haven't heard of anyone having any issues...

It's the most cost-effective way to get a badass setup.
I’ve read your recommendation on this numerous times, and I’m finally going to reply. I’ll disagree with staying on stock Rubicon Shocks. I see no reason to spend a bunch of money and NOT increase wheel travel. Yes, you will get many other quality components, but you’re cheating yourself by staying with stock length shocks.

I would recommend mopar lift. I daily drive my rubicon gladiator on the mopar lift and it rides very nice.

You are correct. I inquired with Fox about the similarities of the Rubicon Fox Shocks and the 2.0 Performance Series aftermarket shocks. They are not the same. The aftermarket shocks have more dampening, although slight. I’ve swapped them on the rear of mine and prefer the aftermarket shocks to the Rubicon shocks. And they offer more travel...
