Have an Eco-Diesel Rubicon JT on order and will be changing the tires and wheels upon arrival but I have some questions that hopefully someone here can answer. Debating with myself over 35s or 37s and wondering about the higher gearing on the Eco Diesel. Do you think 37's will require a re-gear from stock with the additional torque of the diesel and if so, what do you recommend?

Second question will 37s require an offset on the wheels? I'm only running 33X12.5 on my TJ and can't remember (15 years ago) If I had any offest or not on those.

I've never experienced a forum where no one had an opinion. This is fascinating.

What hearing comes with the diesel? It’s also has a bunch more torque over the pentastar

I would stay with 35’s as that what I am doing on my sport s . I wasn’t into re gearing . The added torque will help for sure but I dunno if it would be enough for 37’s

That's the way I'm leaning at the moment as well. Thanks for the input.

The 35 vs 37 debate rages on lol. I was in the same boat until I saw the 37s installed on mine and fell in love even more with the look of these trucks! As many say, if you are debating it just go with the 37s. Truthfully, the price of Milestars for me was less than $10 more to go 37s vs the 35s. For gearing, I think my stock 4.10s are fine but 3.73s might not have the pull you want. No clue about pairing that with the diesel though.

Everyone says 37’s but a lot of them end up complaining how they lost 8th gear, have sluggish acceleration, and so on...imo 34s or 35s are just fine. Cost effective, look great, and will get the job done with what ever your doing with out making the jeep look like an awkward mall crawler.

37 with 3.73 is just a bad idea , if the diesel will handle it is un seen . Possible tho

Pretend that we only have a 7-speed transmission, and all of a sudden things are awesome again!

You could probably pick up a set of 4.10 Rubi axles from someone who went to 60’s, then sell your 3.73 Rubi axles for equal money. That’s like free for 4.10 gears!

If you want 37s then don’t settle for 35s. Regearing is just part of the price you pay. I settled and bought 35s for the same reason and ended up selling them and upgrading to 37s because the JT looks awesome on 37s and I was getting hung up on rocks and needed more height on the belly. Just had it regeared to 4.88s and it drives great. If you had 4.10s I would say with the diesel you are fine but with 3.73 you will likely want to regear.
