When I ordered it was at $507 a month but there was a $1,000 rebate that dropped it to $474
Also the gladiator was built with the wrong tires. Came with all season not all terrains.
Got cha.

thanks for the info!

my price do include $1000 rebate.

@amg55driver My math may be off, but it seems like you are getting a sales price of MSRP reduced by only your rebates. I am assuming you are not familiar with how leases/payments are calculated, so apologies in advance if I am overstepping. You provided most of the information needed, except for an actual purchase price of the Glad and dealer fees.

MSRP (A) $49,000
Residual % *78%
Residual Value (B) $38,220

Sales Price $49,000 (I solved for this amount)
Dealer Fees +$1,000 (assumption)
Rebates, Deposit -$2,500
Adj Cap Cost (C) $47,500

Depreciation $9,280 (C-B)
Lease Term /36
Base Payment (D) $258

Rate/2400 (5/2400) 0.00208333 (aka money factor)
Rent Charge (E) $179 (B+C)*money factor
Pretax Payment (F) $437 (D+E)
MD Sales Tax 6%
Lease Payment $463 (F*1.06)

If this scenario is close, then my opinion is that your residual % is very good, due in part to 10k/yr, but also because of the diesel. Your rate/money factor is reasonable, as they tend to be higher than a comparable loan rate.

Hope this helps, good luck, and enjoy your Gladiator!!

Thanks for this!

so they told me the actual price of the truck im paying is $46032 (FCA Affiliated pricing), - $1500 incentives.

And there is $550 lease fee that FCA charges.

and this dealer does not have any doc fee.

i am no where near understanding your math, but what will be my “projected” lease payment should be?
Maryland is one of the state that they charge you tax of the whole purchase price so i have to pay that $2761 in 36 month payments.

So in my example above, we’ll substitute 46,000 for the sales price and 550 for the fee (assuming it is ”financed” in the lease). I am going to ignore the 1,000 deposit and just use the 1,500 incentive.

The Adj Cap Cost (C) now become 45,050 (46000+550-1500). Base Payment (D) becomes $190 with your Rent Charge (E) to $173 for a pretax payment of $363. Add in the $77 for the monthly tax and I get $440. The $465 quote is a little high, so if you can post a full payment breakdown from the dealer, I can see what I’m missing and adjust accordingly.

I was leaning towards leasing given the high residuals, but with the high APR/money factor (especially from FCA) I am now thinking purchasing is better. Logic below, would appreciate others thoughts.

-Lease fee/rent payment is almost equal to the depreciation. That means over the life of the lease you will be spending as much in financing as building equity in the vehicle. Why does this matter? If you want a chance to sell the vehicle above the payoff amount, the likelihood is much lower with a high lease fee.
-Equivalent cost of financing over a 3 year period is roughly $3000 to $4000 depending on APR, vs. close to $10,000 with a lease (in the case i am looking at with higher MSRP and sale price). That extra financing cost could have went into increased equity.
-Overall, if looking at leases from FCA, Ally, and US Bank if the monthly payments are close I would always go with the lower residual and lower money factor option. This gives you a better chance of having positive equity at lease end, and if you decide to purchase you start with a lower value.
-Wranglers/Gladiators hold their value better than almost all other cars so the risk of residuals dropping, and ever having negative equity is almost 0%. Purchasing a BMW or other luxury car can present a lot of risk in terms of depreciation, but I think the Gladiator is pretty solid. So from my perspective, the value of the lease being a put option on the car value is reduced.

36 month/10k a year.
So 36000 miles in course of 3 years
Oh my bad. That makes more sense. I’ve never leased so wasn’t sure how it worked but knew there was a limit.
