So I’m a bit OCD about my rigs “squatting” when I tow. All of my diesel trucks have HD rear airbags. So I did this to the ol’ JT the other day. Installed the Air Lift 1000 part #60830 rear airbag kit and straight away towed my open 10k(rated)car trailer unloaded to Virginia from here on the Gulf Coast. It weighs about 2800lbs unloaded just over 3k with winch and batteries. Perfectly level, no sway at 70-80mph. For $102, it’s a nice inexpensive piece of kit. Didn’t even have to remove rear springs. Just deflated bags and folded them a bit and the slid into the inner coil spring. Instructions said to remove intire spring isolators but I only removed the section that would contact the airbag. Hope this helps.
Cheers!

I ran the airlines on top of each frame rail to the back. Then I used the supplied airline ‘T’ fitting to the schraider valve and mounted the schraider valve in the center of the hitch. I’ll take some pics later today and post them.

Sorry to dig up an old thread, but I just discovered the Airlifts and am looking at them to offset the weight of RSI smart cap and RTT. Could you share more about removing a “part” of the coil separator? And if you ever shot pics of where you put the valve I’d love to see it. Thanks!

I was thinking the same thing. Wonder how it’d work to use as a leveling kit for uneven terrain?

Love my airbags.. Towed 8,000lbs. trailer/JK for 3700 miles in 10 day...Nice and level... Put the valve next to the gas cap seem to make logical sense. Keep 5 PSI with no load and up to 50PSI with trailer and JK...

@Clayton Off Road Do I am looking at your overland + lift (not sure what size yet), do you think something like this could work to level out when using a RTT?

I added airbags on my Ram 1500 diesel and made a world of difference in handling, no sag so front stayed firmly on the ground. Already have bags for JTR-D and will be installing within next day or two. It just arrived Sat so now can install this along with all of other parts I have been collecting since ordering in Aug :like:

Not sure if it will do much in the way of leveling rear side to side as long as fore to aft were level. It could compensate for slight terrain angles I guess with separated air lines, if you only have 5 psi in 1 side and max of 35 (Air Lift 1000 model). The more fore to aft leveling you do, the less side to side you will have.

I was thinking a front and rear kit, with each airbag plumbed independently. minimal air pressur in the higher corner (s) and max it out in the low spots.

Should work for minor leveling but awful expensive when a few short 2x6's and stacked landscaping timbers would work plus added advantage of emergency firewood;)
Sorry but my wife's idea of camping is, at a minimum , cabin with indoor plumbing, king size bed and kitchen but really prefers full resort with restaurant and spa :CWL: (actually at my age, I do too!)

When bags were at 5 psi minimum, in the Ram, I only noticed a ride quality difference when hitting large potholes. Not sure how much the reduced spring flex will effect steering for you since I only had on rear.

I will post measurement of rear height change ranges once I install mine on rear.

We've actually had really good results so far with customers running rooftop tents perfectly fine just with our springs alone. Depending on how much additional weight you plan on adding, something like this or a spacer can also be effective when used in conjunction with our kits!
