I've hauled iron in mine, including car parts and an antique engine on steel wheels from here to Fort Wayne - then more car parts back home again. I am not all that careful with stuff back there, tossing things in, literally, and dragging them out. No issues. When I mounted my tailgate ladder, I can't call the factory stuff thin.
Thick doesn't always mean better, I never judge on the thickness, I judge on the toughness.
I've had the tailgate panel off, dug the liner out of the threaded holes, etc. - no complaints at all.
Like I said - I have hauled iron in mine, no damage.
I got the factory bed liner without much research beforehand, now seeing that it potentially is less thick or bond is not as good - has anyone had firsthand problems from this or is it just technically not as robust? Maybe if it’s under heavy use? I’m not hauling anything daily for work, just do some weekend warrior projects so I’m not too concerned about it but maybe just biased because I didn’t know about it before I bought it

I can see the price being a good reason to get aftermarket, if it’s less expensive but to be honest for $100 price difference I’m happy to pay extra and not have to worry about who is doing the aftermarket work, taking it in dropping it off etc :piggybank:

I had a drop in liner in an S10 I owned for quite a while. I knew crap was getting behind/under it so I pulled it out for cleaning, the third time or so noticed it had rubbed through the paint to bare steel in places. Happy with my factory liner now and don't miss how items slid around on the drop in.
Amen to that! My F250 had the drop-in and things slid all over and yeah, it wore through the paint in spots. The thing I hated about my Silverado liner (Genuine GM liner came with the truck) was it was slick as puppy poop, too - things always slid around.
This factory liner you almost rip things apart pulling them out of the bed.

IMO "thickness" doesn't mean much. Has anyone honestly had theirs let loose or wear through?
Everyone has a personal opinion and of course, whatever anyone did is going to be best otherwise they are admitting they could have done better. So whatever anyone has in their truck or has chosen will be best and they'll tell you it's best.
Like I said - maybe there IS better?! But hey, if it does the job, stays put, who gives a rip? Seriously.
I haul iron parts, I haul starters, alternators, stuff unboxed and moving around. I hauled an engine across a couple of states - no issues.
So maybe there's better, but why would I care if mine works fine?
Until someone shows their factory liner letting loose or worn through, then it's just fine.

My rhino liner in my Ram 2500 is peeled up in bunch of places. Granted it is 15 years old

Not mention yet in this thread yet, but one of the great joys of getting an aftermarket liner is intentionally scratching the inside of that brand new bed before taking it in to get it lined. It's really fun watching that new paint curl up with the tip of a screwdriver.

Also as mentioned in this thread, adding the factory liner option (or other MORAR options) may significantly increase your delivery time.

I got the liner and the tonneau cover - didn't delay. In fact, it MAY have added a whopping day or two tops. Once it started, it was done and shipped in a week's time.
Most true delays in the 2020 model were due to other parts not being available. I could point to the manual transmission, the 8.2 radio, etc. in some cases.
In my case - there wasn't a delay. YMMV of course.

My truck was on the lot with the factory bed liner, headliner, and slush mats. It would've delayed it more if I ordered one without and waited to find one.

Well the "factory" spray in bed liner happened to be something that I got on my JT that I didn't want, I had already planned on a Line-X one. A few reasons, factory didn't plug nut sert from spray, the factory liner can be peeled off (unless you want it to) it is half as thick as the one in my MJ. Now that can be better saving unnecessary weight.

Drop in can't really move it at in the JT, it is bolted in with the front tow hooks, provides much better protection than any spray material. I have had drop in liners in my trucks for years, last one for 10 years in my Tundra, no issues, YMMV.

Emailed Gupton to start the process of ordering my Rubicon Diesel and was told the following by Daniel Gupton himself:

"Spray In Bedliner is currently unavailable to order. I'm not sure if that is a permanent change or temporary but we cannot add that option even though it shows available on the Jeep.com website."

Anyone know anything... I cringe at the idea of having it done aftermarket and it not coming out well.

Oh yea, and a bunch of options went up in price
For me its
+$100 Keyless proximity
+$100 8.4 radio Prem Audio
+$170 LED Lights
+$50 Steel bumper
+$195 M/T Tires
+$100 3 Piece black roof

Total +$715
I got my JTO and the only big thing it didn't have was a bed longer. I got an aftermarket Bullet Liner and it looks amazing. It also cost me $407, out the door.

Line-x will sell you whatever you want. But you pay extra. Flat. Yes. Gloss. Yes. Color match to your Jeep? You betcha. Just costs extra.

How was it vs the $495?

Did you get offered to do a grey vs black spray?

Properly masking off the whole Jeep to prevent overspray. Tape residue? Properly masking off any holes/threads. Properly sanding the whole surface. Properly spraying the paint so its even...
Does the tailgate close just as well with a aftermarket vs factory liner, no rubbin/interference areas of concern or wear in areas where there is joint/movement?

Maybe it's just my OCD?

LineX is less expensive then $495? I would have though it was cheaper for the factory to line the bead before the bed is painted and installed in the Jeep than when done on a finished Jeep... But I guess its my assumption the factory liner is done before the Jeep is finished.

This will be my first vehicle with a pickup bed and a liner....
I was worried about this stuff too.
I had heard Line-X was good stuff but wondered if my level of OCD/Perfectionism aligned with everyone else's expectations.

I decided not to get the factory liner due to the delays after ordering I had been hearing about.

Did my research and found a 5-star reviewed Line-X install center.
It turned out perfect!
These guys really know what they are doing....
Can't speak for every location of course, but this is literally all they do....

Don't stress it, you'll be happy you went with it over the factory!

Here's a pic to help with those worries.
Check out those crisp tape-off lines.

Awesome, thx!
Do you recall if they removed the bed rail/cargo rails for the spray?
