I agree I like ACC. I had it on my accord and love it for commuting.... especially on 55 mph two lane roads. It’s nice on two lane roads and you can set a max speed and not worry about getting a ticket.
Which you can also do with cruise control - max speed and no ticket.

There are many quality levels in ACC. Toyota is one of the worst, FCA one of the best, and others in between.
This is so true, my wife’s Toyota sucks. The lane departure is just annoying.

On my Honda it’s phenomenal. The lane departure is great too- on my commute home there’s a section of road I can have both set and not have to touch the steering wheel if I didn’t want to for 12 miles!

Not for just speed but following to closely as well. Police write following to closely tickets all the time around here.

It’s annoying when people make these comments. It’s called a speed “limit”, which means the maximum you should be going. Just because the culture across the US is that you can go close to 10 over without getting a ticket doesn’t change the fact it’s a limit.

Speed limit = max speed, not minimum like your implying, don’t be a dork.
I drive for a living, let me just preface that. I see more accidents caused by dorks not going the speed limit than people going over the speed limit. If you are the dork that drives under the speed limit in the fast lane, well I got nothing for you.

Well this is my main gripe with ACC. I travel at or slightly above the speed limit and for the most part stay in the right hand lane. Invariably, during a 60 mile drive, I will have 30 vehicles (min) pass me and cut in front of me within a car length. This messes with the ACC and my vehicle is constantly going into avoidance mode. Yes it is a other driver issue, but this affects my driving enjoyment. I would rather stay focused on the road, other drivers, and my vehicle to safely arrive at destination.
And I have driven well over 1 million miles in 50 years without any accidents.

Very true.

Yes, but cruise control will plow you into the back of the car that suddenly slows down in front of you, where ACC will slow or stop to avoid it. In Nevada, you are automatically at fault if you run into the back of another car, regardless of why.

You missed the point. If the speed limit is 70, it’s technically illegal to drive 72, but it’s not illegal to drive even 60 in that same lane. Yes there are some minimum speed limits, but it would usually be something like minimum 50 where the speed limit is 70.

You drive for a living, so I’m sure you see more people get in accidents who go over the speed limit than those who go under. The accidents happen because of maniacs following to closely and go OVER the speed limit (aka max speed)

I agree that in traffic, people will cut in front of you. But the minimum distance ACC setting is set to be in legal parameters based on speed. The issue is people follow way to closely... remember the 3 second rule on the drivers license test? No one follows it. And that’s the very reason when you hit someone from behind... it’s always your fault!

You’re actually wrong and I didn’t miss your point. If you drive under the speed limit in the fast lane, not only are you annoying and unsafe, you are in fact a dork. There’s no defense for speeding and holding up people who want to go the speed limit. Obviously in most cases it’s not against the law to go under the speed limit but it is horribly annoying rude, and most importantly, dangerous.

Most unsafe situations start with a driver who is oblivious to the speed limit and people who road rage behind them. Both are at fault.

It is a driver aid, not a nanny. You have the choice of using it. If it were a nanny, you would be forced to use it. The Jeep is a long way from becoming self-driving, the closest is a Tesla, as that is one of their goals.

Hence the statement “stay focused”. And there really is no excuse to plot into another vehicle except if someone is not paying attention. There were many rear Enders like this before even cruise control was an invention let alone ACC. It all comes down to awareness and defensive driving.

You can't compare ACC across different companies. Consumer Reports did an article where they basically raved about FCA and said Toyota was trash, with the others in various other places. Also the JT/JL are the only systems I'm aware of where the sensors are on a fixed metal mount, the others attach to the windshield. ACC/AEB are saving me around $40/mo on insurance. I have the 8 year 80k mile extended coverage from Mopar. I simply don't have to worry about it.
consumer reports has also trashed jeeps... just sayin

BTW automated controls are nannies... you may prefer them but I prefer to use my own driving skills
