So I've been looking at 37's, been going back and forth on what I want to do. Have basically 75-80% more life left on my BFG KO2S in a 315 70 17. I'm thinking about buying a set of used 37's to run on my JT. I found a set of Goodyear MTRs in a 37 12.5 17 with about 70% life left. Got the guy down to $400 on them. What would you guys do. Tires look like there in great shape. I figure I could get these and if I'm content on running 37's I can run these out and then buy me a new set of something. Thought s on it

That sounds like a great way to try it out without breaking the bank. Even if you run them down to 50%, I bet you could sell them and get most of your money back towards new ones. If you decide 37's aren't for you, you found out on the cheap.

Exactly what I was thinking. Plus I still got plenty of life left on the BFGs, I could just throw them back on and just be out what I have in the 37's, or just run the 37's down until there's only a little life left and offer them up for $150-$200, you would be surprised who would still buy them. I figured better to try out 37's rather than drop $1,000 to $1600 on new ones only to find out they aren't what I thought performance wise. I made that mistake on the JKU I had and it cost me about $1400 after I only ran the BFGs in a 37 for 10,000 miles.

$400 is cheap as hell. Buy them or send me his number.
Yep, that's why I'm jumping on them. He measured them last night and said they were at 36.2 on the rims in this garage right now so they still gotta a lot of life left. I mean 400 bucks seems like a steal to me. I was pricing them last night and the cheapest I could fine them brand new was $455 a piece shipped.

I just bought a new set of Goodyear MTRs and I think they are great. Balanced fine, no vibration or wobbles, track straight. I have had them up to 85 mph, no problem. Off-road, the are epic. For that price, ask the guy if they balance ok ? He might be getting rid of them because maybe they do not balance well ?

He's going to mount and balance them for me, he works at outlaw 4x4 shop in Greensboro. I had asked him why he took them off and he said he switch to a dedicated swamper for his trail rig in a 40 that, said he tows it to the trails.

Also here are some pictures the guy sent me of the ones he is selling. Supposed to go get them tomorrow evening, do they look like 60-70% is left on them. Not much experience with Goodyear MTRs, looks like they start at 19/32 tread depth. I bought a tire depth gauge today and I'm going to put it on them when I get up there to him. I checked my BFG KO2S 315 70 17 tires and they are at 11/32 basically all 4, pretty even tread wear on all of them. That's with 20,500 miles on them. They were at 15/32, brand new.

Here's the pics, give me your thoughts

Getting them put on as I type. Super excited. Did some measurements and I was at 20-1/4 inch high in the center of the jeep ground to bottom of rock rail. BFGs are at 33.6 right now and show 11/32 of tread after 20,400 miles. The Goodyear's measured 36.2 mounted on the guys beadlocks 36.4 unmounted.

Added almost 2" of height over all in the center of the jeep. I'll probably air them up a bit, they have them at 30psi right now. I'm at 22" in the center of the truck now
