So I’m aware that my Maxtow has the two piece fender like Rubicon and overland but it also has an extra little lip that none of the others do. I’ve seen posts that the quake and AAL will work but has anyone actually done it and can provide pictures of what it looks like. I have a local shop here in Houston who does anything and everything Jeep and they seem to think the lip is going to cause an issue. They say it can be done but think it will look sloppy.

Lite Brite did it in this video. They kinda bounce between projects, but its a max tow.

So I’m aware that my Maxtow has the two piece fender like Rubicon...
To be more precise, it has the 2 piece fender like an Overland. The Rubicon is a high clearance fender, that's not what the Max Tow has. The fender is a tiny bit wider than stock, but that's all.

It looks like they removed the entire fender liner as AAL shows also but there are some that just trim the end. I would prefer to trim the end as I like the thicker lip on the max tow fender.

It looks like they removed the entire fender liner as AAL shows also but there are some that just trim the end. I would prefer to trim the end as I like the thicker lip on the max tow fender.
Ok I understand what you are looking for now. Well if you see any done to a Maxtow please share, fender flares are definitely my next mod but can’t figure out exactly what I want to do.

Honestly if your going to get really flexy then the Max Tow fenders gotta go. Even if you split them & pull everything out the bottom side I think they would still limit you. You can definitely pull the extra crap & get a lot better then stock, but the top end is always going to be the top end & its not very high.

I just got done gutting my front fenders for my max tow. Once you start pulling the inside part of the fender shell out, the extra lip comes with it. So basically, it will look identical to the same mod done on any other 2 piece fender. Will try to post pics after I get them installed. If I can figure out how to.

I think the biggest question on the chop kits is going to be if the support brackets work. There are Rubicon brackets but Mack's toe is lower. There's Overland brackets but Mack's toe is wider. So is there a support bracket that works or is it going to be all floppy.

Separately, does it matter if the LED light package is sourced from an Overland kit or a Rubicon kit?

Will let you know. I'm using the American Adventure Labs High Line braces. They come with their own lights as part of the brace.

I installed the AAL on my max tow over the winter. If I can answer any questions, let me know.

I just installed mine on a Max Tow without removing the fender and retained the stock fender liner for now.

If you split the fender you gain about 3.5”s of clearance whether a lower fender vs the higher fender. The higher fender may give 2 more inches of clearance from stock between the Max Tow and the Rubicon, but then it’s a rock collector and IMOP starts to look like Fab Fours stuff.

American Adventure Lab (AAL) makes a fender bracket and DRL /sequential blinking light for the lower fender now.


PS your limiting factor in stuffing a fender when flexing has so many factors behind it that I don’t think you would have to worry about it with a 2-3.5” lift, proper back spacing on wheels and tire width, as well as bump stops.

If your stuffing a Max Tow fender with 37’s without hitting the fender you are plenty flexy for most trails.

I will do a metalcloak 3.5 game changer and 37’s.

AAL Sends a patch cord between their DRL wiring and the stock wiring. It is plug and play but doesn’t work on my Max Tow. I still have front blinker light out warning and need to have headlights on so that the lights work properly. I have ordered a TaZer mini to fix this.

If you retain the inner fender liner , you will not cut much of it at all. A small triangular piece on inner and outer part of liner only. Maybe 2”s long. Just enough to allow it to pass the AAL bracket and tuck above the AAL DRL.

You will need to take bolts out of liner and peal it front to back. On the very back of fender liner by the rocker steps if you have them. there are two plastic fender clips to remove on the bottom of liner. This will help you reach up and disconnect the stock harness and plug new one in. Pulling stock harness out is just grabbing by each side of plastic clip holding harness in. Rack it back and forth and they will pop out saving the stock harness. The new AAL harness I attached with zip tires.
