Fake Temp Gauge readings

Does anyone else see a problem with this?
At 203 degrees and 230 degrees, the gauge shows the same. ?
One was normal driving and the other was pulling our camper uphill.
I've read about why Jeep does this, but I think it is BS. I'd rather have a real, working gauge.
I guess it's a Jeep thing I'll have to just smile about.

Nobody uses accurate temp gauge visualizations any more. When I had my VW, this same exact topic came up. At least you have an actual temp gauge in degrees though.

I figure it's in the normal range so that's what the gauge is showing the average user. Most would freak out if it said you were running 220 degrees or more. I have to convince fellow AMC owners that if their pressure cap is good and they run a 50/50 mix of coolant that 220 isn't anything to freak out about and they're all in a panic going out and buying 160 degree stats (and that's stupid because the thermostat sets MINIMUM engine temperature, not maximum)

I also noticed this while towing. I keep the off road gauges up and and I’m thinking hmm ? how am I seeing the temp rise and yet the “ needle “ has yet to hit the center mark?? I came to the same conclusion that it’s never going to brake over the center until there is an issue

I think if the gauge was actually accurate, it would generate complaints of overheating. The coolant temos are the warmest of any ealthy vehicle I've operated.

I read somewhere the Jeep made it a "dumb gauge" based on past complaints of it running very warm. It only goes above that level if it is starting to overheat from what I understand. I don't want my gauge to only tell me when it is too late.

Agreed, I'd like to have it show real temp..........The truck will let you know when it cuts the power as a safeguard regardless.

Agreed. I'd like to know when I should back off the throttle before that though. :/
It's a Jeep thing.

Watch the oil temp and back off the throttle as it approaches 260° as that's where the first derate seems to happen.

Well, now I’ll have to watch the regular dash display temp. gauge to see if it tracks. I know it moves up as the truck warms up.

Once it's warm, it never moves. Even as my truck hit 230, that gauge in the cluster never moved.
What's really stupid is that the off-road pages with the other gauges is not a local app! If your truck hasn't made cell contact you can't choose the off road app and show the gauges on the "radio" display. That's the dumbest thing...............
