A tepui RTT came with a offroad trailer I bought as a package. The fellow I bought it from was super nice and showed me the ins and outs of the setup. Ive set it up a few times just to get familiar but I feel something is still not quite right. My one and only issue is when it is opened, the side with the ladder does not feel supported. The ladder holds no weight and all that does is what I call the "P" hinge. (the part where both ends of the hinge meet and form the letter P). That end of the tent does not inspire confidence and I dont feel like it should be this way. I remember him saying that he had the tent centered on the trailer so the weight would be evenly distributed.
So I looked on YT and found this video of someone doing a review of the tent and naturally they climb the ladder and the tent doesnt move at all. It seems (in the video)that side of the tent is supported at least in part by the roof rack itself. (I checked another video and it was the same, a portion of the opened side of the RTT was supported by the rack)
Here is a quick gif of ours yesterday, quite a bit of movement there. Seems like its setup incorrectly, agree?
Jeep Gladiator I dont think my RTT is setup right. *fixed* now with more questions. tent

With the tent opened up, stand underneath where the two halves meet. Make sure the half with the ladder is in the channel of the stationary side. You may have to push up on the half with the ladder to get it to sit right. Sorry no pictures right now.

I've done this. This is the P channel I mentioned in the post...

You have to extend the ladder then collapse the top rungs. The ladder fussing is the thing that takes the most time for me.

The rack on the trailer looks like it also gives a little.

Just make sure the ladder doesn't collapse. I set mine up to collapse 1-2" at the top because it never fully opens flat until weight gets in the tent.

I said in the post that the ladder bears no weight. By design it doesn't seem to be able to.
The ladder is designed to hold weight. It's the 3rd leg. I have a Tepui Autana 3 that we've had for 4 years now (i think).

It's weird. I have one of those type ladders I use around the house and it Def supports weight but this one constantly collapses.
Could there be a minimum height it has to be extended to function?
