May be time to get some new tires soon. Thinking about getting some Patagonia 38’s. Would I even notice that much as far as “performance” and I just that word lightly... goes? I have the diesel.

38's might be pushing it without a regear, yes the diesel can turn them, but the trans still has to slip clutches more and work harder to get them started from a start. Doing a gear crunch, you are going down 822 rpm @ 35mph going to bigger tires.

This is a pretty big jump and you will notice things are more sluggish.

you may want to post in the wanted section and try to find a set of used 4:10 gears, which should be closer to what you need.

Why not check the actual tire diameters of both your 37's and the 38's to see what the difference is?

I went from 37x13 to 38x15.5 per discount tire specs the 37x13.5 weigh 81lbs the 38x15.5 come in at only 4lbs more at 85lbs. The actual measurement I got off of my 37s was 35.75 at 28psi now on the 38s I’m coming in at 37.25 at 28psi. It’s a small change in both weight and diameter. The 38s are D rated not E so the ride is softer at least it feels that way to me. I’m on 4:10 at the moment and I’m not struggling or feel any difference from 37 to 38.

I should’ve bought the 38s to begin with, they are amazing on road good enough Offroad at least for the light stuff I’m doing in my truck, nothing big. Best part is the way they look, it’s a huge difference because of the width, (that what she said) not only that, got almost an extra inch of height on the truck so with the Clayton 3.5 plus these tires I’m at about 5” over stock height.

Can’t say enough about these tires plus at the price it’s hard to beat, yes they may only last 30k maybe 40k but the way I look at it I could buy a set of “good” expensive tires at double the price now and they will last 50k or buy another set of Patagonia’s I get an extra 10-30k miles for what I would’ve spent on a set of “good” tires.

Shout out to Don @Discount Tire great service and great price. I’ll post some pics of both tires today
