Only 160k miles? How many do you think were after its conversion?

Heck, that's only 400 lbs heavier than my 5x10 cargo trailer.I bought an M1102 trailer from GovPlanet earlier this year. It's pretty big, the bed is really tall. Been looking at mounting a ladder on it someplace. lol It's not too heavy though, 1400lbs, and rated for 2700lbs payload. It's an aluminum body on a steel frame. Tires track a little wider then the Jeep but I'm able to take it through our woods but it definitely will not fit through tight trails.
Was pretty painless to go through the actual purchase process. Get the extra form they ask about if you want to get it titled in your state. I needed it for NY and had everything required and only had to make a single DMV trip to get it titled so that was a success. What tires are on it never came up.
I'm leaving the Pintle Hitch on it and did not have to touch the wiring as I got an adaptor to plug into my 7 pin and changed out the turn signal bulbs to 12v LEDs. Didn't have to touch the running lights.
May get matching wheels and tires in the future but no plans currently. An adaptor would put the wheels out further so I don't want to do that and I don't want to do an axle replacement.

Sure,Heck, that's only 400 lbs heavier than my 5x10 cargo trailer.
What sort of deal did you get, if I may ask?
Did you have to go pick it up?Sure,
My winning bid was $1550 and then there is GovPlant Fee + local sales tax + Title Document fee which put it just over $2k.
Yes, and this particular place only had pick-up on Wednesday or Thursday from 10-2 or something like that. It is depot specific but very limited. This particular place was not a military base, it was 3rd party that takes in equipment from all over the place to sell.Did you have to go pick it up?
Great Point!Haven't seen any mention of age for those surplus tires. As tires age, the compound becomes harder with less traction. Tires older than ten years really aren't safe for the road. I know most people completely ignore this, but it is a safety issue.
Your trailer is a perfect example of why for most people a commercial trailer would be better.I bought an M1102 trailer from GovPlanet earlier this year. It's pretty big, the bed is really tall. You have to pick up stuff you win. In the auction, it shows its location, so you need to be careful to bid only on stuff near you.Did you have to go pick it up?
Yes, it has surge brakes so they are not electronic. They engage by the tow vehicle slowing and the trailer pushing against it. It also has Parking brakes that work really well.Your trailer is a perfect example of why for most people a commercial trailer would be better.
My STS can haul over 3000 lbs and weighs 350 lbs.
But if I ever subjected my STS to the kinds of things that your trailer is designed to handle, it would fall apart in 100 miles.
I woldnt' be surprised if your trailer can actually haul 5000 lbs over the road with out a problem.
Does it have brakes?
Its also much cooler looking than my STS.
Yes. And a pintle hitch drawbar looks badass. Ha.Yes, it has surge brakes so they are not electronic. They engage by the tow vehicle slowing and the trailer pushing against it. It also has Parking brakes that work really well.
Definitely cheaper / better options for on road hauling. Going through the woods and creek beds is where this shines.![]()
