More than enough to charge any modern phone, unless the phone is crap I suppose.

Oddly, my Tesla will hold the voltage higher, until it just totally turns off completely at 2.55a. Still, again, charges the phone even while being used heaving. Including gaming (passenger, not driver...well mostly).
Thanks for sharing this, I need to get myself one of those things.

It will charge, and is close to the max of the USB-A spec. What gets me is why they even include the type-c ports if they didn't increase the bandwidth at all.

Do we know that is the case? The power output is not related to bandwidth specs. But then, why would we want more bandwidth since audio is still well below the old spec?

The reason to include USB-C is for the convenience of having the port. Just last night a friend's wife was asking me how to deal with her new phone that has only a USB-C cable, and car has A. I know, simple for most, some people are super non technical.

I find it impossible that the fob doesn’t open on you in your pocket.

While the size is a matter of opinion (on what’s too big)...what isn’t an opinion is that it’s larger than most other fobs.
I just close the key with a bit of a rubber band wrapped around it. Keeps the key from opening till I need it.

Apple CarKeys!!!

I was in an Apple store the other day when they took a break for the unveiling of a new feature. Later iOS systems now feature car keys installed in your wallet. BMW current supports it. Apple is simply waiting on other manufacturers to update their software. All vehicles manufactured after June 6, 2020 should be updatable. Now we just need Jeep to come up with a software update. I found this development extremely exciting as I lug around these gigantic key fobs.

It's not just software, hardware too.

My Tesla uses the phone as a key, and they have for years. But it uses a tech that's not part of the new Apple/BMW/open tech. Still, I simply love NEVER having to interact with locks. I walk to the Tesla and it's ready to open. I walk away, it locks. That's it.

I would happily pay for any device that could interface.
Me too, but 99% sure it won't be made. And by the time this is all available with Chrysler, I'll have traded my Jeep for a Cyber Truck.

Network guy, bandwidth is always on the brain. Totally meant to say wattage. The 18w and up of the usb-c spec vs the 15w max of the A connector.

Guess I never thought of how some people don't make the connection or don't have 17 extra cables of every type laying around at home. lol

Imagine it... another thread started by whatexit? I guess it’s okay if it helps makes you feel better about your self! Some build confidence in various weird, random ways. You, it’s with meme’s. You should swap out your avitar for this great headshot I found of you in your youth:

Did you just use a meme to make fun of guy for using memes? How many circles of hell did we just cross? ??

Amazing the different perspective. I just don't see the problem with the key fob.

Reading all the posts railing against it during the 4 months I was waiting for my JT to arrive, I imagined this huge fob about 4" long. Was really surprised to see it is about 2-3/4" x 1-3/4".
Yep, I use the physical key a ton daily. I just wish if nothing else that trigger wasn't so sensitive. I got used to the size, but the deployment all the time is bothersome
Yep, I really don’t give a shit about the size either. It’s the damn key popping open in my pocket every ten seconds that bothers me. I wrapped a rubber band around it and haven’t had a problem since.

I‘d get one of those AJT fobs but just judging from solely appearances I’m not too confident in the little storage compartment for the key. Looks like a good way to loose it eventually…

I use a leather cover with a clip on mine. This lets you hang the key on a belt loop, and also shields the key button.

That’s another thing I just don’t trust. I know I’d eventually snag the thing and loose it. Mine never leaves my pocket.

It's not possible for that to happen because of the locking design. I've got 8 years on a couple of them, Wrangler and then JT. I've been behind/under/on server racks, radio towers, Jeeps, etc.

Yuuuup.

And if I need to hand the fob to some valet parking person, I could lock it in the holster........ no need to even touch it most of the time but if my wife is getting to the truck faster than I am - I reach down and press the right top button as it's hanging from my belt loop.
Can pop it out of the holster in a second if I need that pop-out key.
Never loose it, never leave it in the truck, no clunky thing in my pocket and it's in reach instantly.

No way for fob to simply pop out and I've worn it while doing yard work, tree trimming, picking raspberries in our woods, working in my shop - including running the equipment in my woodworking shop upstairs. You can't possibly lose it, can't easily get snagged on anything.
Also makes it harder to accidentally hit the panic button.
