I'm getting ready to install 8 of the KC Cyclone V2 rock lights, going to run them off my AUX 3 switch. Is there anyway to wire them so they also flash when I lock/unlock the truck but still maintain primary control with the AUX switch? I understand basic wiring but getting into relays and directional capacitors is beyond my experience...

First, you need to check the draw of the eight lights. They may need to be connected to AUX 1 or 2, which have a higher capacity (bigger fuse) than AUX 3 and 4.

To get them to flash, you would need a diode and a relay. You would have to tap into the wiring for a light that flashes, and feed it to a relay that would send power to the lights. A diode would need to be incorporated to keep the two power sources from back feeding into the other system. Without some help to get it right, I would suggest not attempting it.

Why the need for a relay if I'm using a Diode on each input signal? I plan to have power coming from the aux 3 wire in the engine bay and splice into the power wire in the footwell for the lights that turn on when you unlock the truck. The KC Cyclones only require .42a and I will be running 10 total so 4.2a.

What I can't find is will there be enough power from the line in the footwell or will I need splice that and use it as a remote signal for a relay/12v from the battery.

I used the roadmaster 2 into 1 diode and pulled power from the drivers footwell, it works exactly as I hoped, the rock lights even dim as the interior lights do.

I am just about to do this as well.

Is this what you did?

exactly! The only thing I can’t figure out is if I have the scroll switch for the footwell lights turned on at all, the rock lights are now dimmable too with the footwell lights. I’ve been lazy so I just turned it off but they still come on with u locking and via aux switch.

I'm not quite following that.

When you turned the footwell scroll off, do the lights still work with unlock and aux?

If the scroll is on then it acts as a dimmer for the rock lights?

I might tap the bed lights vs the footwell lights as they also turn on when I press unlock and I don't have to run wire through the firewall. May also wire in a relay and just use the bed light and aux as triggers.

That’s exactly what is happening. I didn’t think I grabbed power from the running light part of the footwell lights but I may have. Though it functions how I wanted with the lock and unlock. I was hoping to avoid a relay because I like that the rock lights dim on and then fade off when locking and unlocking.
