Engine block heater?
That's a safe bet. Engine block heater. He can plug his vin in and check the build sheet and see if it's in there as a line item.

Could you elaborate on this? Are you referring to the Jeep App or a web service? Sounds like something id like to do.

My money is in block heater too
Odds on favor in Vegas are saying a block heater too. They used to come with a longer cord that could get out from under the hood, or to the grill area. Guess you just gotta run your extension cord into the engine bay now...

That is correct it’s in the build sheet. I didn’t special order my truck it was part of the package but I had no idea that you plug in your truck. When is this useful? I’ve never even heard of this before right now.

It will help you start your truck on those cold San Diego mornings that get down into the negative temperatures.

Where you live you'll never need it.
In Alaska, most motel and hotel parking lots have outlets at the front of each parking spot - when it's really cold, sub-0 temperatures for hours (like minus 30 degrees) you plug it in and it keeps the engine block warm so it will crank easier and the OIL will circulate better right off the bat.

Years ago it was necessary for diesels in the winter, many people had engine heaters on gas vehicles as it helped things warm up faster on short commutes in the winter.
Not as necessary today with fuel injection instead of carburetors. Batteries perform better today in cold weather than they used to, starters are more efficient, etc. but if you lived where it's cold, it's actually easier on the moving parts. Steel is stressed in sub-0 temperatures, oil is thicker and doesn't flow as well and doesn't get to the more remote parts of the engine as quickly. You'd also have heat in the heater faster in the winter.
We used to install types that went in the heater hose and literally pumped the warmed coolant through the whole system. You'd get in and start the engine and have almost instant heat out the heater.

It's for cold-weather areas. Plug it in overnight and it keeps your block and fluids warm for easier start-up.

It is to keep engine fluids warm in sub zero temperatures.
