Hopefully participating in a lighted Jeep parade. My plan is to outline the truck (got a 100' roll of LEDs); I've got some command strip wire clips to use. I'll just use a short extension cord from rear of console through rear window (It's not that cold in Southern Maryland)

I must not be part of the inner Jeep circle. There are a few jeeps near me that do this (and they decorate them for pretty much every other holiday too). Its exclusively Jeeps too..... Am I missing something? Did I miss a memo? I guess I don't understand the purpose of decorating a vehicle for a holiday, Jeep or not. Don't get me wrong, I'm all about being festive, but the one's around me look like they drove through a Christmas display and didn't know it.

I used a 150 reel and an Anker Powerhouse 800 in the back. The snowman was aired up and had a 'shaker'. Anker reported only 20w in use and would power it for 38 hrs. Lol. Bed outlet would have been handy here but I don't have it. I used the cheap command strips with the see through adhesive. Worked fine.

Sorry, but why ??
Why not? Camaraderie? I did it for a total of 2 hours. 25 Jeep group cruising local candy cane lanes....meaning people who like this stuff. Everyone loved it. Pulled everything off when back. Was only for a cruise.

Do all the lights you want and then put a Harley motorcycle in the back and have your friend Rev it up as you drive around so it will be both a visual and audible experience for fellow motorists and neighbors.

A Harley? Aren't they like 650lbs? I've read my payload sticker.....don't need a bent frame. ;)

Wreaths on the front I can get behind. But full-vehicle Christmas lights on the road.... ?
Here in Iowa that gets you pulled over. Can't display anything other than white or amber up front and red or amber in the rear, etc.
.........ask me how I know.......

Might be ok in some places, maybe some small towns but not Ankeny or Des Moines and don't be seen on the highways the IHP patrols.

At least the guy was nice about it.

Bummer because I thought it was cool and spent a lot of time re-wiring those strings of lights to work on 12 volts. (this was in about 1980)

Haha crazy. In California...land of everything is illegal....no one batted an eye. Drove by CHP, Sheriff's...they waved. This is in San Diego.

Only in California can you have the roof off of your jeep in the middle of December. It's unseasonably warm here, but it keeps raining, so I'm still somewhat jealous. Nice lights! Would get me pulled over here in Pennsylvania, too, though.

My then brother in law had lights in his Duster - I got the idea from him as he'd done it for a couple of years during the last couple of weeks before Christmas and never had any trouble. I go out after having them on my AMX for only a few days and get nailed.
Yeah, technically not legal but I suppose it's up to the officer or location or whatever. I personally like it and see little trouble with it as long as it doesn't confuse other drivers and most small Christmas lights shouldn't.
