Looking for some feedback/advice. I just got my JTR yesterday and this morning put new shoes on it. The factory tires are the Wildpeak AT/3 in 285/70 and measure in at 32.7".

I have been a long-time fan of the KO2s (have them on 3 jeeps) and I know they don't measure "true" but I was sorely disappointed when I just paid $1600 to have 4 new tires put on that literally measure 3/4" more than the ones I took off... They measure 33 1/4" even though the BFG website lists them at just under 35"... I feel "jipped" out of almost an inch and half of rubber.

The tire shop will take them back (for a replacement, not refund).... so, now I have a choice:

1) Replace the KO2s with 35" WildPeaks which measure closer to 35
2) Upgrade to 37" KO2's (which I'm sure will NOT measure what the website says, but will be bigger than what I have)
3) Replace the KO2's with 37" Wildpeaks

Anyone have an opinion? I'm leaning toward #3, which will cost me roughly $300.

Oh, and I have a 2" MOPAR lift in the garage waiting to go on... afraid that will make the 35" look even smaller...

May as well do number 3.

The fact that you’ve even mentioned 37s at all means you’re interested in the idea. May as well do it now can question it in the future which will just cost you more money. Could even do the Ko2 in a 39” if you wanted 37” AND to stick Ko2. That tire measures something like 37.2 on the truck +-.

The real issue though is that if you do crawl up into that 37” range, a gear change would make driving much nicer even though you’re at 4.10 now.

Thanks for the feedback.

As soon as I mentioned moving to 37s the first question my wife asked is "Do you need a gear change?" ?

She's been around Jeeps too long!

If I go the 37 route, I'll have to push a gear swap to the summer. I do all my own work but gears I don't screw with... would take me a solid week of trial and error. I'll pay for that!

Much easier call for me since I’m 3.73. Knew I was in it for gears no matter what I did.

So... after some additional research, I chose #2.

I've had good luck in the past with the KO2's and doing some research I should expect the 37" KO's to come in at 35.3" when mounted under load and the Wildpeaks to be 35.7". Dollar for dollar, I was leaning toward the Falkens until Iooked at the weight.

For the 124R/D2 rated BFG, the weight is 70 lbs... for the Falken C2 rated tire it weighs 83. Not the biggest issue, but that + my past experience + not much diff in size made me pull the trigger on the BFG's. The upgrade will cost me $280 for 4 tires, which is decent discount from list price.

Appointment tomorrow at 8am.... I'll post some pics (and actual measurements! ? )

Ok... I think I'm finally at ease... 2" lift goes on next week!

Jeep Gladiator GRANITE CRYSTAL JT Gladiator Club 1639498646228

On the rim under load these are 35.25" at 41 psi, which is within 1/10" of what I was expecting. Original Falkens (33") measured at 32" on the rim.

I may play around with the PSI and do a proper chalk test. The installer filled them to 49! (the max is 50 for these D2's). I felt every crack on the road on the way home. When I let them down to 41 I could visibly see the tire relaxing.

Thats a really nice looking setup. This is good to see for if I decide to go that same route. As for psi, I think you’ll find the chalk test wanting you closer to 32 than 42.
